RIZE exclusive interview on Venezuela popular teens magazine - Bravasimo

Rock bands RIZE and fade will be performing at Canadian Music Fest in Toronto, ON, which will take place between March 21st and 25th.

The performances will have the concept 'east meets west via power of rock,' as the two bands are aiming for being a 'global hub' between the west and east. Both band have members with mixed Japanese and American heritage. RIZE's vocalist Jesse McFaddin is Japanese American, and four of fade's members, amongst them vocalist Jon Underdown, also part of GACKT's YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz, were born in the states.

The ultra awesome numetal group RIZE just finished their North American tour this week. With two dates in Toronto and one in New York City, Rize gave three great performances and captured the hearts of many new fans.

I myself had the privilege of attending the New York Show. It took place on March 26th, 2012, in a tiny little venue on the East Side, known as Webster Hall Studio. I was quite surprised to hear that Rize were playing the Studio! I would have expected something bigger, possibly on the first floor at least. Instead, a variety of people found themselves crammed into the tiny venue – rap fanatics, leftovers from the previous night’s L’arc en Ciel concert (complete with platforms, spiked hair, and lolita dresses), hipsters, stylish Asians, and assorted individuals. This was the first time I could see so many different subgroups in one venue for one show – normally you get two at most, especially in a space as small as Webster Hall Studio. I won’t deny that I was just a little bit confused by this gathering.

In a PEV first, we bring you an audio feature from one of Japan’s hottest exports, Mr. Jesse McFaddin. Honestly… if there’s something in the world of entertainment to be accomplished, McFaddin has done it (outside of maybe starring in a major box office smash). His band, RIZE has released several records since 2000 (did I mention Jesse has his own label, Tensaibaka?) – seven to be exact, from the debut album “Rookey” in 2000 to the latest release, “Experience” in 2010. RIZE music lands right in my personal wheelhouse – a mix of alternative and punk rock with a touch of reggae influence - PensEyesView

The audience consisted of only about forty people—a few of whom seemed unfamiliar with either band—but the bands held nothing back and gave those in attendance an impressive show. The venue, which boasts a room with actual tattoos being done at its front, was a relatively small club. As such, there was no barrier separating the stage and audience, which added to the intimate atmosphere of the live. It was further enhanced by the band members’ openness towards their fans. RIZE vocalist JESSE, in particular, could be seen walking around the venue before the show began and earnestly talking to members of the audience. To say that these two bands are down-to-earth is truly an understatement.

The popular trio recently re-released one of their most popular songs, “Stand Up” (originally off of 2005's Spit & Yell), and they’re set to tour the US in 2012. Ahead of all that, lead singer Jesse McFaddin released “GIMCRACK”, an industrial/electronic solo track that, according to Neaux, is “a perfect blend of Ministry meets Prodigy.” It’s also the theme for Formula 1 racing in Japan.

Jesse McFaddin, lead singer and founder of the popular J-Rock trio RIZE has long been viewed as a leader in music and fashion.
