"RIZE and fade to Perform at Canadian Music Fest"

Rock bands RIZE and fade will be performing at Canadian Music Fest in Toronto, ON, which will take place between March 21st and 25th.

The performances will have the concept 'east meets west via power of rock,' as the two bands are aiming for being a 'global hub' between the west and east. Both band have members with mixed Japanese and American heritage. RIZE's vocalist Jesse McFaddin is Japanese American, and four of fade's members, amongst them vocalist Jon Underdown, also part of GACKT's YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz, were born in the states.

"RIZE North America Tour – Awesomeness Beyond Belief. (With Fade, Hip Hop Gamer, JR Junior)"

The ultra awesome numetal group RIZE just finished their North American tour this week. With two dates in Toronto and one in New York City, Rize gave three great performances and captured the hearts of many new fans.

I myself had the privilege of attending the New York Show. It took place on March 26th, 2012, in a tiny little venue on the East Side, known as Webster Hall Studio. I was quite surprised to hear that Rize were playing the Studio! I would have expected something bigger, possibly on the first floor at least. Instead, a variety of people found themselves crammed into the tiny venue – rap fanatics, leftovers from the previous night’s L’arc en Ciel concert (complete with platforms, spiked hair, and lolita dresses), hipsters, stylish Asians, and assorted individuals. This was the first time I could see so many different subgroups in one venue for one show – normally you get two at most, especially in a space as small as Webster Hall Studio. I won’t deny that I was just a little bit confused by this gathering.

"Jesse McFaddin"

In a PEV first, we bring you an audio feature from one of Japan’s hottest exports, Mr. Jesse McFaddin. Honestly… if there’s something in the world of entertainment to be accomplished, McFaddin has done it (outside of maybe starring in a major box office smash). His band, RIZE has released several records since 2000 (did I mention Jesse has his own label, Tensaibaka?) – seven to be exact, from the debut album “Rookey” in 2000 to the latest release, “Experience” in 2010. RIZE music lands right in my personal wheelhouse – a mix of alternative and punk rock with a touch of reggae influence - PensEyesView

"RIZE and fade at Toronto's Tattoo Rock Parlour"

Just two days after their first live in Toronto, RIZE and fade performed their second date of the Canadian Music Fest at the Tattoo Rock Parlour.

The audience consisted of only about forty people—a few of whom seemed unfamiliar with either band—but the bands held nothing back and gave those in attendance an impressive show. The venue, which boasts a room with actual tattoos being done at its front, was a relatively small club. As such, there was no barrier separating the stage and audience, which added to the intimate atmosphere of the live. It was further enhanced by the band members’ openness towards their fans. RIZE vocalist JESSE, in particular, could be seen walking around the venue before the show began and earnestly talking to members of the audience. To say that these two bands are down-to-earth is truly an understatement.

"RIZE set to rise in the state"

RIZE have been busy and are looking to rise in the US.

The popular trio recently re-released one of their most popular songs, “Stand Up” (originally off of 2005's Spit & Yell), and they’re set to tour the US in 2012. Ahead of all that, lead singer Jesse McFaddin released “GIMCRACK”, an industrial/electronic solo track that, according to Neaux, is “a perfect blend of Ministry meets Prodigy.” It’s also the theme for Formula 1 racing in Japan.

Bio

In August of 2000, RIZE debuted with their hit single "Kaminari", under Epic Records, which made a huge impact on the Japanese rock scene and launched their careers. Since then, RIZE has toured not only in Japan but in America and South East Asia, establishing their presence in world music markets. RIZE has performed alongside international artists such as Oasis, Jay-Z, NIN, and Run DMC. One of RIZE's most notable accomplishments came in 2003, when they went on an "All American Tour" with The KottonMouth Kings, performing at 38 shows across the US.

In July 2005, RIZE appeared on Live 8 as the opening act - a world renowned event that was broadcast in 7 other countries. Their powerful performance was highly parsed and left a big impression with the international music community.

On top of their successful performance at Live 8, in 2007 RIZE was proudly invited as the only representative rock band from Japan to appear at Live Earth alongside Linkin Park, etc. Live Earth was an acclaimed live charity event founded by producer Kevin Wall and former US Vice President All Gore. Once again, RIZE's outstanding performance brought them international fame.

In 2010 Jesse paved the road for RIZE to release their 7th album Experience. A majority of the tracks from this album were created and produced by Jesse, enabling him to garner attention as not only an artist/musician, but also as a music producer.

ZERO, the iconic song of this album was selected by Coca-Cola and lead to the collaborative commercial with Hide Nakata (famous former soccer player) and Coke Zero, which is still being aired across a large part of Asia.

Jesse's passion, desire and multi musical gifts led him to venture away from rock and start his Hip-Hop unit E.D.O. E.D.O. is a diverse group of artists and rappers comprised of some of Jesse's old high school buddies. The group has put out numerous singles and their first full album Revolvers was a bit hit among the Japanese Hip-Hop community

In the past few years, many E.D.O. members have ventured off to pursue solo projects which have brought much attention to Jesse and his Hip-Hop unit. One project in particular is Jesse's solo E.D.O. project THE BONEZ which received a spotlight from underground music critics. The project featured a mix of Jesse's favorite genres: rock, Hip-Hop and electro. THE BONEZ has put out 6 singles with each one having a different music concept form the previous.

Through E.D.O, Jesse was also able to express and expand his talent as a film director with his self produced music video "Revolvers". His camera work, use of colors and fast/edgy scene changes received much attention from film and video critics.

Another source of recognition that Jesse received is due to his role in introducing the Japanese music community to the well acclaimed duo, DEF TECH. With many major labels shying away from the young and fresh pair, Jessie decided to take Micro and Shen under his wings in 2001. He molded them into multi platinum artists by playing a key role as their producer on the first album where co-wrote their hit track "My Way".

In 2005, Jesse launched his own label Tensaibaka Records where DEF TECH, RIZE AND E.D.O. have released the majority of their work. With much under his belt as a successful musician, artist and producer; Jesse has also become one of Japan's leading fashion icons with his clothing line S&Co and clothing shop Takenaka Sound Shop which is located in his hometown, Togoshi. S&Co is a popular line amongst celebrities with big names such as Ichihara Hayato counted as one of the line's most loyal customers and fans.

Starting in May 2010, Jesse established the "Bring the Hope Project". This project represents Jesse's goal of spreading the message of hope through music and free live performances. The first Bring the Hope Project Live took place on May 4th, 2010, where many artists and fans gathered to commence a live charity to raise hope and awareness for our past, present and future.
