Rizer

BandRock

A free exploration of original rock with a variety of underpinnings.

Biography

Rizer is a most unlikely fellowship. Nick Washburn guitarist/singer/songwriter and founding member, was lead vocals for 3 of the band's studio projects, recently gave up the lead vox spot to firebrand Adam Dipenti. The addition of gritty lead vocalist Adam Dipenti and a keyboard player, rounds out this radio friendly rock outfit and sets a new tone for the band. Gary Gilbert on bass has recorded with such notables as Kerry Livgren and Ronnie James Dio. Gary has been active playing with and recording with local Atlanta bands. The band's awesome chemistry has Gary using his bass to essentially be a second guitarist. Super talented keyboardists are so often-unsung Keith Denmon, has sat in on keys for Edgar Winter and the like. Drummer extraordinaire Luke Testa has been on the drums since age 3, he toured with Bacon Brothers as sound engineer. Luke has a home studio where he records local bands.

Rizer played showcases in 2008 and 2009 during the GMA conference in Nashville. The members of Rizer consider the band a ministry effort allowing them to sow the seeds of their faith. The band was previously known as Nurtured In Purple, a 3-piece power trio. NIP had hit songs on Internet radio (CMRADIO.NET) and opened for Kings X and Jack Russell (Great White) on local tickets. Rizer is concentrating on writing new material and looking for the breaks.

Lyrics

World Of Second Chances

Written By: Nick Washburn words and music, Adam Dipenti co-words

So many years I’ve struggled with this pain
So many years I tried to place the blame
I don’t know who it is that’s causing all this shame
I look away avoiding eyes who know my name

I’m known to deal with it by staying high for days
So many years so many wasted days
Lost in the emptiness I try to find my way
Is my life coming to an end what do I pray?

Pre Chorus
My momma tells me that she don’t want me to die
I got to find a way to step around my pride

CHORUS
Until now I’ve had a world of second chances
This time I’m going to survive
I should have died many times in many circumstances
There is some reason I’m alive

What started out as fun has got me tangled now
The innocence I had can no longer be found
The hurt I feel inside I try to push it down
My luck will have an end and I wont make a sound

Pre Chorus
My momma tells me that she don’t want me to die
I got to find some way to step around my pride

CHORUS
Until now I’ve had a world of second chances
This time I’m going to survive
I should have died many times in many circumstances
There is some reason I’m alive

Instrumental
I can’t deny it there has been trouble on this road
Deep down inside I know I reaping what I sowed
I have decided Ill never make it on my own
I’m broken hearted and I need healing for my soul

Until now I’ve had a world of second chances
This time I’m going to survive
I should have died many times in many circumstances
There is some reason I’m alive

Whoa what can I do?

Written By: Words Adam Dipenti, Music Nick Washburn

Whoa what can I do?
Whoa what can I do
To prove my love for you
Whoa what can I say?
That’s gonna make you look my way
Whoa my heart is yours
And I give my all to you
Well now you life me up my Lord
Whoa in spite of me

Chorus:
Is it in the way I walk?
Is it in the way I talk?
Is it in the words I say?
Or is it how I use my faith?

Whoa what can I do?
Whoa what can I do?
To prove my love for you
Whoa what can I say?
That’s gonna make you look my way?

Chorus:
Is it in the way I walk?
Is it in the way I talk?
Is it in the words I say?
Or is it how I use my faith?

Chorus:
Now I know what I’m to do
Find the lost and lead them to you
Sing about this love I’ve found
How you lift me up when I am down

The Darkness

Written By: Words, Arrangement and Music Nick Washburn, co-music Troy Winston

Serving my time towing the line
I got the right frame of mind
Slave to the grind I lost my time
But no longer blind am I

CHORUS
A light in the Darkness
Black Kiss again and again
We face the Darkness
Darkness does not understand

I ain’t no dust in the wind I got temptation and sin
Know where I’m going but I don’t know when
How will you face the end?
Will you do it again?
You don’t want to be where I been
I got my dues to pay
I get some time to play
And I got something to say to you player
If there comes a day
That judgment day
Will you say it ain’t fair Mr. player?

I got no money to pay this fine
We got no money to pay this fine

CHORUS
A light in the Darkness
Black Kiss again and again
We face the Darkness
Darkness does not understand

I got no money to pay this fine
We got no money to pay this fine
