They Said

Written By: RL Clarke

They said, that our differences were just too vast
They said, there was little chance our love could last
They said, we did not know the pain ahead
It was purely in our interest that these things had to be said

They said, that for us to go on would be wrong
They said, that the chance of failing was too strong
They said, the two of us were cheese and chalk
Their opinions were to save us from all the gossip and the talk

I know that we say, they could not know the love we feel
I know, this love we have is truly real
I am sure, when real love plants a lifelong seed
That it does not seek approval for special colour, age or creed
Real love does not seek permission
Does not need approval for special color, age or creed.

I Remember

Written By: RLClarke

From the moment that our eyes locked that first day
They’ve had a sparkle that has never gone away
And though times passed since I made those vows with you
I remember

I remember on the night that we were wed
Was the first time you had ever shared your bed
How you gave me all the love you knew to give
I remember

From the moment our first child was on the way
You’ve had a glow that’s still shining bright today
And though times passed and now all their raisings through
I remember

I remember though there was no mother's book
You still guided them throughout every step they took
How you gave them all the love you knew to give
I remember

I remember all the love you knew to give
I'm so thankful for the life that we have lived
Yes, I remember all the things you had to be
I remember everything you did for me
Made me all that I could be
I remember

You'd realise

Written By: RL Clarke

Every time that I am near you, it is the hardest thing to do
To act calm as I pretend, you are no more than just a friend
As I watch you walk on by, you don’t know how my heart cries
But I’m sure you’d realise, if you looked into my eyes

You’d realise, there is a love that is forever
You’d realise, I want to spend our life together
You’d realise, there would be no sad goodbyes
All this and more you’d realise, if you looked into my eyes

You’d realise, that I would love you all of my life
You’d realise, that I want to make you my wife
You’d realise, there would be no telling lies
All this and more you’d realise, if you looked into my eyes

I am sure if you looked into my eyes
You would realise if you looked into my eyes
You would realise if you looked into my eyes
You would realise if you looked into my eyes
Into my eyes

Wait a minute

Written By: RL Clarke

Wait a minute wait a minute I thought our love would last
But this message from your phone call is saying we're the past
You need to jog my memory why is our love history
This is all just news to me now and I do not have a clue how
Wait a minute wait a minute

Two days ago, there was no sign that you no longer would be mine
When we made love the whole night through, I have to say you gave no clue
That you would break my heart in two

Just yesterday, you failed to say that anything was on your mind
You gave no hint that I can find why you would treat me so unkind
Or was I really just that blind

Please can you jog my memory why is our love history
This is all just news to me now and I do not have a clue how
Can’t you please just wait a minute?

A Drifter

Written By: RL Clarke

My Grandpa was a drover
The work was hard the times were tough
Still he loved his life on the open plains
The freedom was enough
He was a Drifter
He felt at home when moving round
When you’re a drifter
Can’t keep both feet flat on the ground

My dad became a sailor
He loved the life he loved the sea
Gave him all that he had been searching for
The feel of being free
He was a Drifter
He felt at home when moving round
When you’re a drifter
Can’t keep both feet flat on the ground

I love to be on the open plains
Or sailing out on the sea
It never seems I can get enough
Of the feel of being free
Yes I’m a Drifter
I feel at home when moving round
When you’re a drifter
Can’t keep both feet flat on the ground
I love the freedom of open spaces
I guess I’ll always be a drifter

Mighty Murray River

Written By: RL Clarke

This Mighty River
This Muddy River
Our Murray River

There are days it seems to be, that you’re almost standing still
Reflecting back a landscape for watching eyes to thrill
And as you catch a red sunset with the sky lit like a flame
The beauty and the splendour to you it’s all the same

Mighty Murray River winding through this land
Mighty Murray River always in demand
Mighty Murray River flowing endlessly
This mighty muddy river’s only searching to be free

And those nights the moon and stars, also do their magic show
You can change your face to silver, reflecting back their glow
But day or night it's plain to see, just how much you’re really worth
To each and every life form, living on your path on earth
This mighty river, this muddy river’s our Murray River

Mighty Murray River winding through this land
Mighty Murray River always in demand
Mighty Murray River flowing endlessly
This mighty muddy river’s only searching to be free

This Mighty River
This Muddy River
Our Murray River

Christmas Wonder

Written By: RL Clarke

There is a story of a Christmas wonder in a land known as Down Under
Of an old man riding on a big red slay
Being pulled by seven reindeer is the story that they tell hear
Leaving presents as he goes his merry way

To see this Christmas wonder in the land known as Down Under
You have to be there just before the sun is dawning
And this wonder in the land known as down under
Happens every year on their Christmas morning

Some people say it’s just a rumour only meant to be in humour
This Christmas wonder they will never see
True believers know it’s real by the joy they get to feel
From those presents he leaves underneath their tree

To see this Christmas wonder in the land known as Down Under
You have to be there just before the sun is dawning
And this wonder in the land known as down under
Happens every year on their Christmas morning

I've seen this Christmas wonder in my home town in Down Under
Yes I have been there just before the sun is dawning
And this wonder in our land known as down under
Happens everywhere early Christmas morning
It happens every year early Christmas morning

Our Child's Eyes

Written By: RL Clarke

Our Child's Eyes

When I was young it seemed a crime
To spend your day just wasting time
So many things to chase in life I had to own
I was too busy every day
For having fun or childish play
You got one chance if it was missed, the seeds were sown

There was a time I could not see
The life that god had planned for me
Now Life’s real joy I understand
And it came with no demands
It feels so right there are no lies
When I see the love, our child’s eyes
Yes, the real worth of my life I now realise
When I see the love, in our child’s eyes

I lived a life that was too fast
Chasing the dreams that could not last
The constant failings finally helping me to wake
For all that matters to me now
Is this pure love I have somehow?
From our child, if I am there, it’s mine to take

There was a time I could not see
The life that god had planned for me
Now Life’s real joy I understand
And it came with no demands
It feels so right there are no lies
When I see the love, in our child’s eyes
Yes, the real worth of my life I now realise
When I see the love, in our child’s eyes
Yes the real worth of my life I realise
When I see the love in our child's eyes.

A True Champion

Written By: RL Clarke

To have our team to play on grand final day
Stirs the blood, fills us with pride
We set our hopes so high, to win we rely
These are feelings that we can’t hide

So sing it loud and proud, yell it strong and long
Make them know they are the one
It’s their chance to feel, something quite unreal
To be hailed a true champion

It takes a special brand, to be held so grand
Nothing like it on this earth
They will need all their skills, big heart iron wills
And stand tall knowing their worth

There’s neither pride nor shame, knowing each has came
From all different walks of life
The only vows they share, is always play fair
And help a teammate who’s in strife

Will you be there

Written By: RL Clarke

I will give my heart to you
With a love that will stay true
If you are there, will you be there
I will never cause you pain
My love always will sustain
If you are there, will you be there, for me

If you are there to share the dream
Love will be the constant theme
And on those days that we’re apart
You’ll still be there deep in my heart
If you are there, will you be there, for me

The choice is up to you
There is no more that I can do
It’s time for you to say
Do I go or do I stay
Will you be there, will you be there, for me

If you are there to share the dream
Love will be the constant theme
And on those days that we’re apart
You’ll still be there deep in my heart
If you are there, will you be there,
Will you be there, for me.

Always will

Written By: RL Clarke

We had to face reality
Ours was a love that could not be.
For though our feelings felt so strong
We knew our love was wrong
What we had then I won’t forget
And not one moment I regret
I loved you then, I love you still and I always will.

The memories that we once shared, still linger from the past
And in my dreams, I’m still with you and our love will always last

A secret love ending in pain
All that we felt, was all in vain
And while our lives still carry on
That special love we had has gone
To lose true love’s a bitter pill
The hole that’s left, no one can fill
I loved you then, I love you still and I always will
I loved you then, I love you still and always will.

Love, love, love

Written By: RL Clarke

How could I know love starts as quick as this
When all I asked for was a good night kiss
Then the next day we had our second date
And for that second kiss I could hardly wait

When love, love, love found me I was unaware
How love, love, love takes you and it doesn't care
Although I’d made those plans to be moving around
That need for being free was nowhere to be found
When love, love, love found me and it took me down

I did not know love changed the way you think
You change your life style and not even blink
Forget your friends and want to settle down
And buy that little house on the edge of town

When love, love, love found me I was unaware
How love, love, love takes you and it doesn't care
Although I’d made those plans to be moving around
That need for being free was nowhere to be found
When love, love, love found me and it took me down

Do not try to fight when love comes after you
Just be grateful to have someone who cares for you
Cannot live without it,
Love found me
Love found me
Love found me

Believe Me

Written By: RL Clarke

Believe Me

First Verse
It was while working on this farm, that this old man there I met
A real gentleman, and as sprightly as you'd get
His eighty years were mostly spent, around the central Queensland shore
Excepting for the time, that he went off to the war

Bridge
And at the end of every story that he told
These words he'd say to make sure you were sold

Chorus
Believe me it's true it's fairdinkum
It happened just exactly as I said
Believe me it's true it's fairdinkum
If it's not just as I said, then may god strike me dead

Second Verse
He’d been through droughts that were so bad, that the rivers all but dried
Had days so hot some summers, the town trees up and died
Seen raging floods wash towns away, filled his soul with deep regret
But a cyclone bearing down, is a fear he won't forget

Repeat Bridge

Repeat chorus

Third Verse
It had been two long years ago, that he'd lost his darling wife
She was the only girl he had been with in his life
He always told the same sad line to anyone who’d care
That to live once love has gone was the hardest thing to bear

Repeat Bridge

Chorus
Believe me it's true it's fairdinkum
It happened just exactly as I said
Believe me it's true it's fairdinkum
If it's not just as I said then may god strike me dead
Just as I have said or god may strike me dead
May god strike me dead
