ROBBIE SMITH

My story is an unusual one - too long to tell in a short bio. Had classical training and lived in Montreal as a gradeschooler but then my family decided to "go back to the land" and we moved to the east coast to a remote place where we built a round house on a big rock over the sea. I dedicated all of my spare time to writing songs but recording them was a problem because we had no electricity. That went on for many years but in that time I wrote a wealth of material. My influences were Pete Seeger, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkle, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, The Byrds, Crosby Stills & Nash - the artists who could come up with the most stunning songs possible. Yet, I retained my own style - and endeavoured to be as original and varied in my writing as those songwriters I admired most. My brand new CD reflects this. It is called "Retro Debut" and presents for the first time 14 of my originals and is not just another indie CD. It is my life. Hopefully it will take the listener on a journey they will never forget.
