Rob Birmingham

Rob Birmingham

 Burlington, Ontario, CAN

A potent blend of classic Byrdsian guitar riffs and lyrical songcraft, it is melodic indie-style pop-rock at its finest. Influenced equally by Tom Petty-ish classic radio rock and the harmony-driven indie rock of early REM, it leans to the rockier sides of the alt-country & folk-rock spectrums.

The recent independent release of the 13-song CD "Outside July" was the culmination of a long and varied music career for Rob Birmingham, the end-product of writing and performing songs for over 20 years. With the help of former Sacred Rain bandmate Todd Pyper, Rob went into the recording studio in 2007 armed with a couple of dozen songs and a boatload of new ideas, and proceeded to craft a fully-realized project. After years of playing bar gigs, festivals, TV specials, and releasing independent music locally in Burlington, Rob finally decided to gather all of his favourite originals penned over the course of his career, and record them the way he had always wanted them to sound.
Rob, a longtime resident of Burlington, Ontario, enlisted the help of some of Burlington's finest musicians on his new release, and is looking forward to playing shows in 2008 in various formats (solo acoustic, duo acoustic and full band) while promoting his new release.
