Bio

"Excellent and creative." - **** Q Magazine.

"Fresh new writing and lyrical excellence. A talented singer-songwriter who is only just getting started." - **** Maverick Magazine.

"A rollercoaster ride through the English landscape seen through a keen eye and a poet’s heart." - Mariella Frostrup, BBC Radio 2.

Hailing from the Yorkshire moors, Rob is originator and pioneer of Epic Folk. Part poems, part Spector-like anthems, these are swaggering songs from this country's heartlands, folked-up fairytales of social conscience, society and survival, drawing comparisons with everyone from Elbow to Arcade Fire. After gigging solo across the US and UK, Rob released his debut album 'The Other' in 2004 to critical acclaim, garnering a four star review in 'Q' magazine and national radio play. The following single enjoyed nationwide and BBC Radio 2 playlisting and Rob moved to London and bust out his epic folk songs in acoustic clubs and venues throughout the city, supporting everyone from Ramblin' Jack Elliott to Hot Club de Paris.

Severing ties with the label in 2008, Rob was free to start preaching his Epic Folk through sold out shows with his band 'The Dissidents'. He is now close to finishing the much-anticipated second album. Demos are already doing the rounds and drawing much attention, including underground radio play and support from stations in the USA. 2009 continues to be epic.
