Bio

My name is Robert Downer, stage name “Rob d”, I am an Australian Hip Hop artist based in Brisbane. My music has been quoted as being “easy listening, refreshing and motivational” by members of the media, music and entertainment industries.

My second album, Soul Therapy was released March 7th 2009 and is available via online distribution through iTunes, emsuic & Amazon.com.

Soul Therapy was recorded at Aisle 6 Studios by engineer and producer Scott Mullane and features vocals by Sarah Collyer & Kieran Yip, with scratches by DJ Sauce. The album was mastered by Matt Gray of Matthew Gray Mastering & the artwork developed by The Kingdom Of Sad Machines art company.

Soul Therapy is a look at the world through the eyes of Rob d. The album contains no explicit language but lyrically describes the ongoing challenges that Australians and others alike face. Through the unique and appealing style of music and lyrical content, the real message I aim to deliver is one of hope and inspiration.

I released my debut album Life's Ambition independently & sold over 400 copies at selected stores, markets and through personal sales. I have featured at a number of events throughout Brisbane, in local newspapers and street press. I am principally involved in facilitating Up 2 Scratch Hip Hop Music Workshops alongside DJ Sauce at schools, events and festivals, and also perform around Brisbane at pubs and clubs.

My goals for 2009 are to work alongside as many charities, businesses & youth organizations as possible and perform at festivals and arena's around Australia. One of my main goals is to help set a more positive image on the Australian Hip Hop scene and assist to improve the publics perception of Australian Hip Hop Artists and to also help raise money for as many charities as possible, in the hope that we can work together I will en devour to organize and promote Australian Hip Hop shows with local artists of all elements and I plan to make each event an all ages event. My main goals for next year are to help change to public image on the genre, raise money for charities and encourage the youth to develop there skills and get active in a positive way.

With Soul Therapy I en devoured to produce an album that was bound to suit everybody having much diversity across the board. The goal of the this album was to introduce the local Hip Hop community and others to a fresh style of Australian hip hop.
