"SINGER SONGWRITER ROBERT DOBBS TALKS NEW MUSIC VIDEO"

INTERVIEWS
SINGER SONGWRITER ROBERT DOBBS TALKS NEW MUSIC VIDEO
MAY 9, 2016 ORIGINALROCK LEAVE A COMMENT

LA singer songwriter Robert Dobbs has been making waves as of late in the world of music. The former Mid-Summer Classic front man recently enjoyed huge success from his single Fight With Fire that achieved nearly 150,000 on YouTube. Now the singer has just recently released his new single Ecstasy and revealed that he cleverly ‘wrote the lyrics so they could be interpreted in different ways’. You can his to Dobbs’ latest single Ecstasy
below.

We managed to take some time out of his busy schedule for an interesting interview where Dobbs’ talks about his new single, new music, fans and more.

How has the new single Ecstasy been since it’s release?
The response has been really great! Fans tell me they love the song and video….especially the lyrics.
What is the song all about?
Well I actually wrote the lyrics so they could be interpreted in different ways – so could be a person or could be someone’s passion. For me, my muse is Music herself. Music is my drug of choice. I personified her.
And we all meet people along the way who don’t believe in us, who don’t think we are going to make it, or just plain don’t want us to. This song is my way of saying don’t care what anyone else thinks. Don’t give other people that power.
Are you planning on releasing an EP/Album?
Yes, I’m currently writing a bunch of new songs and finishing up production on others.
What’s it like being an up and coming singer yourself
It’s an adventure. I’m really excited to be able to do what I love. And what’s even better is getting to share it with new fans and especially my fans that have supported me for years.
What would you say to your fans that go to gigs and buy your music?
I’d tell then how grateful I am and how much I appreciate their love and support.
I don’t know if fans know how much their words of encouragement mean to me.
Where would you see yourself in 5 years time?
I see myself continuing to evolve as an artist and touring around the world. I really enjoying meeting new people and learning about different cultures. I can’t think of anything better.
Have you got any gig/tours planned for this year?
Actually, I’m planning to start doing shows very soon. As I mentioned earlier, I’m finishing up several new songs. I want to add them to my set. - ORIGINAL ROCK

"FEATURED ARTIST - ROBERT DOBBS//FRESH"

FEATURED ARTIST - ROBERT DOBBS//FRESH

I’m so excited to share with you all an interview I did with Robert Dobbs.

Robert is a singer/songwriter who is fluent in Spanish and English! He can play countless instruments and can mix his own music.

I was given a chance to sit down with Robert (it was an email interview but… lol) and ask him a few questions!

Q: Have you always known you wanted a career in music or was it a bit unexpected?
A: It was unexpected. I always loved music, I started playing piano and guitar at a young age, but I never thought that having a career in music was possible for me. I was pursuing a degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Communications in college when I was given the opportunity to be lead vocalist in an established band.

Q: Who are your biggest music inspirations?
A: Queen, Nirvana, Muse, Michael Jackson, 30 Seconds To Mars, Coldplay, and Bon Jovi.

Q: If you aspire to be one of these, who would you be?
A: Bon Jovi – Even though I’m a solo artist, I’d love to have their longevity. They have had a REALLY long career and are still going strong.

Q: If you could win any award, what would it be and why?
A: An Oscar…even though I’m not an actor lol. Just because the selection process seems so arbitrary at times and it’s difficult to win one. Look at Leo…took him years to get one even though he’s a phenomenal actor.

Q: What is your dream collaboration and why?
A: There are so many artists that I would love to collaborate with. One of them is Sia because I really like her melodies – they’re catchy but different….refreshing.

Q: What’s your favorite song to perform live?
A: Acoustic – Not All Your Fault. With my band – Fight With Fire.

Q: If you could learn any instrument, what would it be?
A: Actually I play all the instruments that I need for my music already, but I would love to be technically better on drums.

Q: What are your top 5 songs at the moment?
A: Hurricane – 30 Seconds To Mars
Titanium – Sia
Explosions – Ellie Goulding
Happy Song – Bring Me The Horizon
Dead Inside – Muse

Q: Favorite album of all time? Why?
A: THIS IS WAR by 30 Seconds to Mars – because it helped me through some tough times in my life.

Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: I’m looking forward to my fans listening to my new music. I’ve written a lot of new songs in Spanish as well as English. And as a songwriter, I also like to write in different genres – whatever inspires me at the moment is what I write.

Q: If you could go on tour with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?
A: Queen.

"GETTING TO KNOW THE UP AND COMING TALENTED POP ARTIST, ROBERT DOBBS"

GETTING TO KNOW THE UP AND COMING TALENTED POP ARTIST, ROBERT DOBBS

July 27, 2016
LLTM: If you could describe your music or sound in 3 words, what would they be?
Robert: Epic, Alternative, and Pop

LLTM: What’s artist’s do your fans seem to compare your music and sound to?

Robert: My fans used to compare my music to various alternative artists/bands when I was with my last band, but I don’t recall fans comparing my music to anyone else since I’ve gone solo… unless I’m doing a cover and then they’ll compare my version to the original artist’s version.

LLTM: How is the chemistry different with your current band members as an solo artist, compared to being part of an actual band or group?

Robert: Chemistry is really important regardless if you are a solo artist or in a band. I’ve had great experiences being part of a band, but I found that sometimes different personalities and differing points of view could make it challenging to get on the same page creatively. I ultimately chose to go solo so that I would have creative control.

LLTM: If one of your songs could be on any movie soundtrack, which song and what movie would you choose?

Robert: I wrote “Fight With Fire” after reading a sci-fi novel. That’s why it has a lot of cinematic elements. I’d love it if it was on the “Suicide Squad” or “Justice League” movie soundtrack.

LLTM: In a song, do you find yourself connecting more to the lyrics or the music itself?

Robert: Music itself- because the melody of a song usually informs my lyrics.

LLTM: When writing music, does it come from experiences, imagination or a combination?

Robert: Combination of both. Sometimes I may start from an experience but often times I end up using my imagination. I pick a topic that inspires me and create a story around it in my head.

LLTM: Who is your biggest musical inspiration at the moment, and will we hear anything similar in your music?

Robert: In the past there were definitely songs that were inspired by music I was listening to at the time. But this moment, I’m actually not listening to anyone in particular. I’m just focused on just writing and being inspired by life.

LLTM: What’s your next personal goal, that you haven’t quite reached yet, and what will it take to reach your goal?

Robert: Right now I’m finishing number of songs that I’ve been working on for the last several months. After that, I’d like to start touring. I just have to stay focused to reach my goal.

LLTM: With you being fluent in English and Spanish, do you find one language more difficult than the other to put into a song and keep the same sound?

Robert: Not really, of course I have to change the lyrics somewhat but I try to stay true to the message of the song regardless of whether I have to translate Spanish to English or vice versa.

LLTM: If you had a one person audience at your show, who would you want that one person to be and why?

Robert: My grandfather, he has since passed away but he used to be a singer. I was very young when he died so he never got the chance to see me perform. I know he would have been very proud.

LLTM: If you were stranded on a mountain for 30 days, and had to fend for yourself, and could only bring 3 things, what would they be?

Robert: I would bring unlimited water, unlimited fake chicken and Pokémon Go.

LLTM: Are you planning on touring anytime during the remainder of this year?

Robert: I’m still writing so have not set any dates at this time. I have some important meetings coming up and they will determine whether or not I start touring this year.

LLTM: Any plans on releasing a new album, if so any release date set?

Robert: Yep- that’s what I’m working on right now. I’ll be sure to let you know.
