Bio

Robert Allen Duncan’s love of music dates back as far as he can remember. He began playing guitar at age five, sang in his first talent competition the same year, and penned his first song in his early teens. The Duncan household was a musical one; his sister, Julie, is a composer and songwriter, and Robert credits his dad’s guitar playing as his earliest musical inspiration. Bands responsible for shaping his sound include: Hall & Oates, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, and Tom Waits. Led Zepplin, Eric Johnson, The Police, and John Mayer have also played a big role; he sites them among his favorite artists.
For the past 35 years this Louisiana native has been honing his craft. Having played bars, festivals, dance halls, auditoriums, and stadiums, Robert Allen Duncan is no stranger to the stage. He’s done his time working the Bourbon Street circuit, toured the country with Willie Clayton, and shared the stage with the likes of Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Zakk Wylde and James Burton. Duncan has played the “Red River Revel Arts Festival” alongside Floyd Grisby — he’s even played a blues festival in Amsterdam. A deep-seated love of entertaining and a passion for creating music that resonates with the listener are the key forces that move Mr. Duncan forward.
Robert is steadily writing more material and efforts toward a concept album are in the development stages. Robert Allen Duncan’s self-titled debut EP was recorded at Blade Studios, in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was released in early May 2013.
