"I feel like many good songwriters toss great song ideas aside for fear of 'selling out.' I try to put as much honesty as possible into my songs when writing them. If the result is eclectic and unique, great. If not, I'm still going to sing my heart out when I perform it."

Biography

"I feel like many good songwriters toss great song ideas aside for fear of 'selling out,'" says Robert, "I try to put as much honesty as possible into my songs when writing them. If the result is eclectic and unique, great. If not, I'm still going to sing my heart out when I perform it." Growing up in a small town south of Dallas TX, Robert started songwriting at age 17. “I was super into MXPX, and my first few songs sounded like a train wreck and were all about my parents. " Haunting and soulful, Roberts single entitled “Us” expresses an inner call to get out of the big city and go "somewhere that we can see the stars," while the catchy tune "Not Ok" speaks to the "Sunday best" we put on to hide the pain we carry within. Robert is currently producing and recording his debut album.

Lyrics

Us

Written By: Robert Baker

Look out my love I've gotta leap to break the ice surrounding me
This stuff these fears have caged me up, lets hope the fall won't shatter us

Forget the mountain man in me fighting this collar and these pleats
I'd never run I'd never leave, the love we share is far too sweet

God what about the modern us?
Silenced by love and bound by stuff
I'd just disappear into the dust
But where would that leave us?

Girl what about the house and cars?
Paychecks and friends, these relatives of ours?
We could disappear into the dark, somewhere that we can see the stars
But where would that leave us?
