Bio

What do Jay Leno’s Tonight Show monologue, Prime Minister Paul Martin, Lollapalooza and Maple Leaf Foods Canadian Ideal Singing Pigs all have in common? No, not that, it’s Robert Davis’ comedy. This Toronto-based performing songwriter not only has an established career in children’s music in Canada, but in his day job as a corporate writer he has penned jokes and one-liners for and about most political and corporate CEOs in Canada. No wonder his corporate comedy work has wended its way into his lyrics.

Robert began his songwriting and performing career as a novelty songwriter. His witty songs were featured on local and national CBC Radio programs and at stations like Q-107 and WJR Detroit. Until recently, Robert concentrated on establishing his career in the children’s music field. A longtime member of NSAI (The Nashville Songwriters Association International), he got back into his comedy songwriting when his interest in “new country” waned (despite winning some songwriting awards in this genre, of which he is very proud, if not wealthy).

Robert writes and performs for the audience. And when he sees people in the crowd smiling and laughing, that about says it all.

Robert would work well in a writers-in-the-round format or as an opening act.
