Robert Frier

Robert Frier was born in Wharton, Texas. His musical career began in childhood when he became a member of his church choir and joined the concert choir for his high school, Wharton High School In 1994, Frier's family was always musically inclined and performed heavily in the church. This encouraged Robert to shop his own demo tapes and by the age of 18, he met a jazz musician that was rising at the time from his home town, Ron Brown. Frier had plans of signing a recording deal with Ron but they never came to completion. Robert soon set out on his own starting his own record company with his cousin Obie Williams III. (He ended up recording his 1st Studio Release A Day in October It went on to sale over 10,000 units) In 2004, Robert Frier was released and was followed by one more album for August October Entertainment, 2005 The Image. The Image was never commercially released. Obie Williams III was killed in automobile accident and Robert decided to take some time away from music. In the fall of 2007 Robert began writing again, although not releasing anything. In the spring of 2009 he wrote Everytime and released his first single after many years.

He has since then been producing for many other artist in the Houston Area, and finishing up work on his 3rd Album "The Revival" Frier's vocal style draws from Brian McKnight (particularly in his use of melisma), Michael Sembello, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, and Take 6. Soul singer James Ingram also strongly influenced Frier. His music production sensibilities especially his penchant for piano based pop ballads, method of background vocal recording and melismatic voice inflections all draw heavily from Gospel Music. Robert Frier also has the uncanny ability to mimic the timbre and style of other singers such as Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Prince.
