BIOGRAPHY

I guess this whole story started back in 1969 when my mom and dad saw fit to bring me into this world.

Born in the lakeside town of Kelowna, British Columbia, I took my first gulps of air.

We moved around a fair bit and with each new town came a new experience and memory. Little did I know then that these stories were being tucked away for another day....

Most of my childhood years, teens and young adult life were spent like most Canadian boys, in pursuit of the "big leagues"--NHL that is.

After a lot of hard work, stiches, broken bones and lost teeth I made my way to the United States of America, and more specifically Wisconsin.

Lucky enough to get an education and play hockey...and enjoy beer, cheese and the Green Bay Packers..my life continued to move along.

With the end of my college career fast approaching and prospects for fullfilling my dream to play in the show, slowly fading away, some decisions needed to be made.

The night I stepped off the ice for the last time led to the day I walked into a music store for the first time. Four pairs of pawned skates got me my first guitar.

I spent many a night that next summer, sitting under the Wisconsin stars learning chords as my fingers would allow and writing songs before I could play them.

I was brought up around great music and now it was time to make some of my own.

Initially inspired by strumming wordsmiths like Kris Kristofferson, Gordon Lightfoot, and later John Prine, Tom Paxton, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, the harmonies of the Beach Boys, the energy of the doors and partiotic support of the superchared tragically hip, it was my time to explore.

As a thinker and a story teller I realized quickly that there was an energy in telling a story to music.

When I play and perform, there is confidence, vulnerability, anger, joy, love, and fear. All of it is feeling.

I now live in Seattle where I have just completed my first professional CD--titled "Catching up to Yesterday". Much love goes to my beautiful wife and son...

The experience can't be quantified yet as it is all too new but I do know I am proud of the end result.

My influences continue to grow and I find myself moved by the many artists with great songs and stories being told across this great land.

"Catching up to Yesterday" will be available for purchase at www.CDbaby.com in about three weeks...Thanks for reading and listening!!

Lyrics

Young Man, Old Man

Written By: Robert Glenn

Standing at the harbour
Suitcase by my side
Looking out at a 100 ft freighter
Ya that was gonna be my ride
And I know you were looking at me
Please understand I couldn't look up at you
As I pulled out from under the gray
Into the Blue

It's just another young man's story
Of leaving young love behind
Chasing after the adventure
That plagues the young man's mind
Maybe one day I'll know better
Maybe knowing better is just left behnd
On the shore for another man to treasure
While her love disappears in bad weather
For the last time

Standing at the alter
Suitcase by my side
Worn out shoes and a bottle o' booze
I can say its been a hell of a ride
And I know you were looking at me
Please understand I couldn't look up at you
As I pulled out the ring and I said another I do

It's just another old man's story
Of leaving young love behind
Letting go of the adventure
That plagues the old man's mind
Maybe one day he'll know better
Maybe knowing better is just left to time
On the shore for another man to treasure
While my time disappears in bad weather
And I'm okay with that

One of Those Days

Written By: Robert Glenn

I said what we've got here
Is one of those days
That you think it's all a waste of your time
Forget the earlier years
Face the ghost in your mind
Well you gain what you give away in tears
Like a fire at night
With it's shining orange light
You can't burn unless you give it the fuel
So here's a song that I hope
Will bring us together
When it's storming outside
And all we've got is the weather
Let's drink this red wine
And we'll stare at the rain together
Cause the rain will pass
And the moment won't last
forever

Step outside if you will
Let's be one with the rain
Figure out tomorrow live in today
Can you feel the blue
Falling down to the ground
You get through this you're gonna like the second time around
I still hear that sound
All wrapped up in a song
It gives a little less the further down I move along
So here's a song that I hope
Will bring us together
When it's storming outside
And all we've got is the weather
Let's drink this red wine
And we'll stare at the raind together
Cause the rain will pass and the moment won't last forever

Cigar Smoke from Cuba

Written By: Robert Glenn

Well I bought me a beat up Volkswagon Van
It was time to hit the road
Inspired by the words of a famous man
That wrote a long time ago
Kerouac had his Dharma bums
Poe had his poetry
Columbus found the Americas
Is there anything left for me
Cause I'm chokin on Cigar Smoke from Cuba
You don't need to lead me
Don't you even try
I'm livin' on the line until my body says its time and I die
I'm sleepin' in my coat
Searchin' for my next note in the sky

Pencil, smoke and paper I ain't got no writer's block
There's a lot of lonely people out there
Looking for a little talk
Well I found a friend on the side of the road
I said where you been sad soul
He said from New York City to the Diamond Coast
To the Alaska scenic picture show
But I'm chokin' on Cigar Smoke from Cuba

I'm livin' on the line between tomorrow and the end o' time
