Ask Me Not To Leave

Written By: Robert Hoyt

Too many angry words spoken in the night
Have brought us to this place where there's so little light
I think we both forgot how hard this road can be
And it just feels so easy giving up on you and me

Chorus:
Ask me not to leave and I'll stay here forever
There's something here, there's something that's still burning in your eyes
You don't need to let me go. We could build a bridge together
Just say the words, don't throw it all away for fear and pride
It doesn't have to be - Ask me not to leave

So I'm standing here in this open door
I've said it all, can't think of any more
Just listen to that voice speaking softly deep within
That says we're not too lost to find our way again

Bridge:
I think we both forgot how hard this road can be
Sometimes the best things don't come too easily

on the last day of my life

Written By: robert hoyt

On the last day of my life will I wish things had turned out differently?
Will I wish I could go back in time and try to see what else could be?
Will the good outweigh the bad? Will the dark give way to splendor?
Will I find that hope won out, as I look back and remember?
Maybe I'll have climbed the highest mountaintop, but I doubt it
Most of us fall short of glory, and we have to live without it
Through a lifetime's ups and downs, dreams that live, dreams that drown
There'll be treasures I'll have lost, but others I'll have found

CHORUS: If there's one more day to spend before I have to face the end
I'll count myself a lucky man if I'm with you
Through the victories and the falls I'll know I truly had it all
If I'm with you

On the last day of my life if you're standing there beside me
If I'm a prince or I'm a pauper, I'll know that nothing was denied me
We'll wish it wouldn't end, but we both know that life, it dances
To a tune that's bittersweet, one that longs for second chances

So we'll have to make the most of that last moment we're together
Somehow we'll stretch it out, make it feel like it's forever
What else can mortals do with days that are too few?
The last day of my life, I'm gonna spend with you

and the people said yes

Written By: robert hoyt

All God's children joined hands to sing, and the people said: Yes!
And love welled up like a bottomless spring, and the people said: Yes!
And the swords, they all were beaten into plough sheers, every one
And the old men finally realized they'd buried too many sons
And the children danced and picked flowers in the sun
And the people said: Yes!

Boys and girls of every color, shining like the stars, and the people said: Yes!
And we finally saw each other for what we really are, and the people said: Yes!
And a light, it seemed to shine on us, shine from all around
And the man who had a dream, well, he was up there looking down
And he smiled as he listened, and he joined in with the sound
As the people said: Yes!

It ain't that hard to see it if you look real deep
It's all right there before us, and it's ours to keep
There ain't no need for us to keep on walking in our sleep

A rich man came and laid his money down, and the people said: Yes!
And a king stepped off his thrown and cast aside his crown, and the people said: Yes!
And someone, well, he reached out and he took a widow's hand
And then somewhere a cripple rose up on his feet to stand
And a shout of joy, it echoed out like thunder in the land
And the people said: Yes!

he'll carry me

Written By: robert hoyt

If I find my path has led to barren land
And ahead lie many miles of burning sand
And if my strength abandons me, leaves me on my own
Still I will remember even then I'm not alone
I will lift my voice to heaven and cry out,
"Lord, you rule in times of plenty and in drought."
And though there may be no way I alone can make it through
I have no doubt of what the Lord will do

CHORUS: He'll carry me when I'm too weak to stand
He'll lift me on his shoulders with his hands
I feel His strength beneath me even now
When it looks like there's no way, He'll know how:
He'll carry me

I need not be afraid of angry skys
I will not be turned back by mountains high
Wherever life may take me, if I'm safe or facing harm
I'll know that I am held in mighty arms

BRIDGE: I used to fear my trials, but no more
For now I know that wonders lie in store
For if the pain I'm suffering should ever be too much
That's when I most clearly feel His touch

i am alive in him

Written By: robert hoyt

Sorrow and death, you're not gonna scare me anymore
You had a grip on me, but that was long before
I died to the lies of this world, and now I'm living for the Lord
I am alive, I am alive

I am alive in Him

He gives me hope when all of my strength has drained away
He lifts me to my feet and lets me seize the day
What I had lost I've found, what was dead has found new life
I am alive, I am alive

Great Is Our Redeemer

Written By: robert hoyt

The price of sin, well, it was ours alone
Jesus paid it all on His own
Great is our Redeemer
Greater love, well, it never could be
He bore the cross so he could set us all free
Great is our Redeemer.

Great is the Lord, Great is our Redeemer

The universe, well, it's at his command
He sits in glory at the father's right hand
Great is our Redeemer
So sing His praises everyone
His mighty work, well, it's just begun
Great is our Redeemer

Greater love, well, it never could be
He bore the cross so he could set us all free
Great is our Redeemer
So lift your voices now and proclaim
The name that stands above every other name
Great is our Redeemer.

Shine Your Light

Written By: robert hoyt

The light of the world, that's what he called us
When he built in us a burning fire
That we'd share that flame with others
Well, that was his desire

With all this light burning within us
There's more darkness than there needs to be
The Lord he gave us each a lantern
But if we hide it, well, who can see?

Chorus:
Shine your light. Don't wait for a reason
Shine your light. It ain't gonna go out
Shine your light. Now is the season
Don't leave it hidden neath your fears and doubts

This world it can be so cold and lonely
Full of souls who want to find their way home
But the darkness, it just seems to surround them
And they think they've got to go it alone

Well, we've got a light shining within us
And we've only got to set it free
We could change this world forever
Can you imagine how that would be?

Bridge:
When the darkness seems to surround you
You've got nothing to fear from the night, just...
