Bio

Coined one of the best-looking comedians ever (by his mom), Robert Keller has appeared on TV, film, and stage.

This past year, Robert earned a nomination for the prestigious Tim Sims award as one of five finalists selected by a jury of industry members for the 2012 Cream of Comedy showcase at Toronto's legendary Second City Theatre, following a strong performance against 20 other competitors selected for the 2012 Fresh Meat show in September 2012. Robert also got big laughs as lead character Ralphie in the virtually sold-out run of "Gay Nerds" at the 2012 Toronto Fringe Festival. The play, which also has a companion web series by the same name (www.gaynerds.tv), garnered rave reviews from critics, including 4 out 5 stars from torontoist.com.

Robert's first break came in 2007, when he was selected from a crowd of over 1,000 sketch comedians from across Canada to appear as one of eight finalists on the CBC's "The Second City’s Next Comedy Legend". He has also been the subject of his own episode of "Can’t Get A Date", the VH-1/Logo series that takes a biting, humorous look at the pitfalls of dating in the big city, and he starred in the short film "Stacked Deck", a top 10 finalist in the New York round of the international short film competition The 48 Hour Film Project.

Robert also regularly performs stand-up comedy, and he has been featured on CBC Radio One and Radio Canada’s Première Chaîne. His tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating style has made him an audience favourite in Toronto (his current home base), and his not-so-secret obsession with Céline Dion has been put to good use through his uncanny impersonation of her, which he has performed at the 2011 Toronto Sketch Comedy Fest, as well as at Toronto's award-winning Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and Montreal's Théâtre Ste-Catherine, among many other venues.

As a writer, Robert was hired to create comedic material for the current Prime Minster of Canada (who, despite all outward appearances, actually does have a sense of humour--but just barely).

Before following his dream of performing, Robert earned a law degree from McGill University and miraculously got paid to do fancy lawyer stuff in New York for 7 years. (Mostly, though, he was just surfing the internet.)
