Biography

2009 :
2009, a new album will be released by Autumn : The Other Side of Robert Lauri An array of innovative melodies drifting over various continents and cultures. Each title releases its own emotional force and takes us into “another world”, where atmospheres are created by remarkable instrumental arrangements of astonishing chords that are ideal for conveying emotion and sensitivity. Robert Lauri makes us discover the range and diversity of the creative force of a tunesmith who deserves to be discovered by the general public. Robert Lauri offers us strong and astonishing musical atmospheres. Each title takes us into another musical world with various musical genres and rhythms, such as country, meditative, and classical styles mixed with pop, electro pop, soul, and so on and so forth. Certain melodies also evoke some captivating pieces of film music; others open up a haven of peace and meditation. Still others invite us to move. But even if the compositions float in their own magic, a common theme is guiding the weft of these creations: dream and relaxation. When listening to the instrumentals, you leave the ground to glide in your own world of emotions and imagination. A first extract from the album offers the public two titles (Hong Kong Café and Houston Day). The single is available at all the main sales sites in the world. In 2009, the artiste launched his MyConcert2009 programme (Concert à la Carte), which also contains a part allowing the public to participate in the production, and some sponsorship.

About Robert Lauri
Ambitious, without being career-minded, Robert Lauri blends his life and work.

Born into a family of musicians and artists, it was almost inevitable that Robert Lauri would become involved in the arts in some way. As a young boy he learned to play piano and guitar. Not content with just performing, Robert was soon composing great melodies to accompany his lyrics. Throughout his career, Robert Lauri has always been an original, remaining true to himself and his creative drive, unfettered by the ebb and flow of fads and fashion.

In 1976, a number of top names worked with him on his first album.

Published by Dick James Music, Elton John’s publisher, produced by Mitchel Hiller and Kay Kaplan, arranged by Robin Miller, this LP was recorded at the Olympic studio in London and distributed in Britain and Italy.

Back in France, Robert Lauri signed with WEA Filipachi in 1980.

A very fine album came out of his work with JP Bourtayre, B. de Bosson and D. Rousseau. The lead song, Je jure, marched up the hit parades and soared quickly to number one, where it stayed for several weeks. Chantal Allon,Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl, D. Barbelivien, J-P Dreau, E. Rodagyl, other writers also worked with him on other hits.

Some years ago, Robert Lauri began a mystical phase and created the band ALEF.

This was an original concept that consisted of mixing hard-hitting, topical arrangements with texts from the Torah. Success was immediate on the airwaves.

Some great performance venues, such as L’Olympia, Le Zénith, Le Palais des Congrès and others staged their concerts in front of enthusiastic audiences.

After winning over audiences in Europe, ALEF conquered Canada and the United States, where their gigs included an appearance on the US Telethon.

In parallel to all this, he continued to write music and lyrics for numerous other bands and individual performers.

1998 saw Robert Lauri return to his first love. Composing country tunes produced songs touching on sensitive areas in a changing society at the dawn of a new millennium. For the artist, the year 2008 has been marked by the realization of several substantial projects. During the past year, Robert Lauri has recorded and released four albums. The album “Liberty” has been recorded in Paris and New York. Two capitals whose cultural richness and musical diversity permeate this new album. The Liberty project is the fruit of the artist's collaboration with Franck Lupo in New York and Alain Pype, eminent French sound engineer, Pierre Cherez, an extraordinary guitarist. LIBERTE english lyrics

Liberty – Look at what they do in your name
Liberty – They do evil, you take the blame
Liberty – Wish that they wouldn’t spy on me
Liberty – Secret cameras I can’t see
Liberty – Not the same as celebrity
Liberty – Read about it in graffiti
Liberty – In this prison that they call life
Oh – Grab the key while you can or you pay the price
Liberty – barricades on fire everywhere
Liberty – in a hungry child’s empty stare
Liberty – For their health they will make us ill
Liberty – They don’t know it’s a sin to kill
Liberty – Find the way to your destiny
Liberty : is il possible to be free ?
Liberty – all their darkness may swallow me
Liberty – can I love my own enemy ?
Liberty : we can share our lives peacefully
Turn our back on brutality
Liberty – we should all have some happiness
Liberty – being born we were being blessed.

Literal translation of LIBERTE by JNB (Rap part)

Being free, to act, without constraint or submission
Our mission, it’s my vision, to dodge the establishment and prison
Liberty, to be free, depending on your own reasons,
The emptiness, of some poor kid, watching the passing of the seasons…
Exercise your will and fly using your own wings
Determined and voluntary, to grant your own dreams
Conquer the liberty to live, that’s the way it’s understood,
This oppression cuts all ties, but writing remains my livelihood…
Love for liberty, it’s my turn to escape
To be able to change my life, or at least try to evade,
To have the keys, there I find refuge in the surgery of ethics
Rebuild the world, change the people, nostalgia, politics…
Free but in chains, by being off the chain and inebriated,
My life, an abandoned book, the solitude is obstinate,
My grief is but adjourned, over my life I hope to reign,
But all the flowers have wilted, and nothing remains but hurt and pain.

You, my destiny
(Literal translation of the lyrics “Toi, mon destin”
by Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl)

If the road I take has been too long
Only with you who remains unaware
of this happiness that I claim
My life will take it despite you
You who held me in your hands
making me believe in tomorrow
you can do no more against me
I’m the one to take control
You who have put my life
on one side of the scales
with too much of anything
I never had enough weight
But nothing will be the same again
because here I am in the full sun
my eyes and heart wide open
I declare war on you, yes war yes war
I am armed to the teeth
You won’t even have the time
to measure your adversary
that you will be face against the ground
You will pay the full amount
for the time lost without omission
and I, I will get you on your feet
because I will have decided it
It’s not the taste of vengeance
that makes me take my revenge
But it’s me who will drive you
there, where I have truly the right to love
Although you are lost beforehand
I will give you a chance
of still being my destiny for me
Me who really has things under control
I have truly believed in all my outlays
Being born on a bad day
between ups and downs
heaven swayed without me
But nothing will be the same again
because today in the full sun
my eyes and the heart wide open
I declare war on you, yes war yes war
I am armed to the teeth
You won’t even have the time
to realise what you are losing
that you will be face against the ground
and you will pay the full amount
of my sorrows, my illusions
of my dreams, of my faded flowers
You my destiny, lying at my feet
am armed to the teeth
You won’t even have the time
to realise what you are losing
that you will be face against the ground
Although you are lost beforehand
I will give you another chance
you will have your part of the feast
I am the master, o destiny mine

Tant s'aimer tant se haïr (Love-Hate)

Written By: Jean-Pierre Gresset de Bourbon

Loving each other so
giving us so much
to chain ourselves
free of everything
So violently
Like a rocking boat
Just you and me until the light fades
A day and a night and everything starts again
nostalgic mixed scents serve as proof
and the sky ablaze in an rainbow
a thousands suns of hopes
Hope burns eternal
In the carved heart of our confused bodies
A star passes
and daylight comes
tell me why it is I fly
Hating each other so much
cursing each other so much
lying to each other
prisoners in ourselves
so solitary, like a passing shadow
Silently
Until we lose our mind

Had just to get married

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

Had just to get married
(Literal translation of the lyrics “Fallait bien se marier” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
He dreams the man of all days
In his two-room house without sun and with view on the courtyard
Of being the one he will have no time to become
And his future is already no more than an old memory
Oh, oh, had to earn his dog’s life
To remake the world
That has never calmed the hunger
He cries on the desert island
They leaded nowhere all his roads of glory
Just a few dreams dying in the deep of his memory
All his anger is already no more than an old despair
Oh, oh, had to earn his dog’s life
When the stomach is full
We are good-for-nothing
Had to get married, had just to make a family
Had just to range his dreams in the box of madness
The office, the factory, the suburban train eight-thirty
The evening paper, the underground, the monthly security
He thinks the man of all days
At all those two-room houses that have shared so much love
There was no sun, the view was always on the courtyard
It comes from elsewhere, the light he has in his heart
That was before earning his dog’s life
He was a poet, he was even a musician
Had to get married, had just to make a family
Had just to range his dreams in the box of madness
Three and a half cents and eight hours a days for indefinite time
To kill the fear to miss happiness
But the winter nights are not included in the salary
When the tears come to curse a life when one has lived the other side

Free

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

Free, fly higher than our life,
Escape the emptiness, the motionless,
The false vows, the real tortures,
Not survive anymore.
False promises, real agony,
Free, to reach the inaccessible,
Feigning to live is not worthy,
The days are short, the nights fragile.
Free, and escape the false, the vagueness,
The approximate love,
To avoid the traps of the ordinary,
Where nothing moves.
Free, as the white-water of the rivers,
The air of the sea, the dust,
The sandbanks of the desert.
Free, as free as the light, as free,
As the swallow in the wind of the sky.
Free, free as the stars between them, so free,
As the sand that whips up.
Free, learn not to lose any more,
To fall silent, laisser-faire,
81
Not to neglect the light of the essential.
Free, as the rocks of the universe
That turn around and dance, amass,
As mountains so close to the sky.

I still believe

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

I’ve left in each story of my life,
Like a bubbling spring,
The hope of thousands of joys to come,
Doors open on the light,
On all the mysteries, all the secrets of our wounds,
On our ‘do or dies', our worn out never lived dreams
I’ve left in each story of my life,
Some empty pages,
A pause, a silence, a break
As an expectation, another chance,
On the madmen, the sidesteps, the scars,
The broken smiles, the dead loves that nothing carries away,
the Sacrifices.
But in the immense sky, when the sun dances,
Me, I still believe, so strongly
In our salad days, in songs of hope,
Me, I still believe.
I’ve left a little of myself in each fine grain of sand,
Like an imprint taken over time,
A book open on the ocean.
A story without end which would be hungry, which would be cold,
A story to be read each time between the lines.
I’ve left a little of you,
A little of me in the gold of the world,
In the disorder of our false rounds,
Our deep fears and our lies,
Our desultory joys, our absolutes, our fusses,
Our lost glances, our wastelands, our spleens,
Our moonstones.
I’ve especially left, like the crazy rhythm of a sweet song,
Some knowing looks against doubt and rout.
But in the immense sky,
In songs of hope,
When the sun dances,
Me, I still believe,
Me, I still believe,
So strongly, so strongly, I’ve kept my faith
In our salad days,
In spite of silence,
Me, I still believe.

It’s Him

Written By: Robert Lauri/Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl

(Literal translation of the lyrics “C'est lui”
by Robert Lauri & Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl)
who shows us life from hell in paradise, it’s him
who gives us love to share with no catches, it’s him
Whether you live or die, may you leave without pain, it’s him
Let me tell you his name RIBONO CHEL OLAM
who rekindles the spark when the wind blows on it, it’s him
whose eyes are on you to give you hope again, it’s him
Whether you laugh or cry who hears your heart beat, it’s him
Let me tell you his name RIBONO CHEL OLAM
Let me tell you his name RIBONO CHEL OLAM
I am his child, his little one, it’s me and you all as well
The fruit that matures in his sun and tastes of the Eternal joy of heaven
Who guides man on earth from shadow to light, it’s him
Who salves your ills with the balm of his tenderness, it’s him
Whether you live or die, whom bears your pain, it’s him
Let me tell you his name RIBONO CHEL OLAM
Let me tell you his name RIBONO CHEL OLAM

No matter

Written By: Robert Lauri/Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Peu importe”
by Robert Lauri & Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl)
No matter, do with me what you want, oh no,
No matter, I have the faith and I will keep it, oh no,
No matter, if your wounds have skinned my back, oh no,
No matter, if your burns have imprinted my skin
Never can the will of the strongest,
Change the truth,
Even if the price is death,
I will make truth live forever.
No matter, you who want confession with blood, oh no,
No matter, being guilty or being innocent, oh no,
No matter, justice transcends time, oh no,
No matter, you will only be right, down below.
If fear makes you look away,
It only serves humility,
The small are big before God
I have faith and I will keep it.

Sweet love

Written By: Robert Lauri/Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl

(Literal translation of the lyrics by Robert Lauri & Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl)
I don’t know who has stolen my soul, what did I do to her
so that she is the one who condemns me to stop loving her
and yet I can swear that she liked me
even if she could run away, it’s true sometimes
Is she a swallow who thinks she can
want “to be able” to spread her wings and fly to another roof
If that’s so I will tie up my beauty when she comes back
and her desire to forsake me will pass
My love don’t let me down
My love I don’t wanna be sad
Sweet love open the door
Sweet love don’t go breaking my heart
Without her, me without her my life would be dull with no horizon
yes, my life would be flat, without pain, without joy
and without her my heart full of boredom would speak no more
I would be but a lost robot and not needed
I would be but the key to a wind-up robot, no more
Without my soul I do nothing but ask
That I die and be buried without a shroud
If nobody comes to help me find you again
You my soul, my soul who hears, take pity on me
You my soul, say come back, my beauty, I will wait for you
My love don’t let me down
My love I don’t wanna be sad
Sweet love open the door
Sweet love don’t go breaking my heart

Telling You goodbye

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Te dire Adieu” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
I have juggled with words like the blades of a knife,
I have blown the fuses in the house of my senses,
I wanted planes to crash, trains to fly off the rails
and prove to everyone that you were nothing more to me
I have torn up the pages of all the books that lie deep within me,
and put other images to the scenes of different new evenings
Then I have painted the walls of my heart with thousand cuts,
But I go round in circles, I lose touch, like a lion out of its cage
God, I can’t tell you goodbye,
I want to, but I simply can’t,
God, I can’t tell you goodbye,
Nothing in me can do it, I can’t tell you goodbye.
I’ve set fire to the hell of all the games your mysteries play,
I’ve chased all the people from the cities that I built on your promises,
But in the evening when the stars fall, when waves roll backwards,
I feel hunted like them, and like them, I’m in the wrong place
I have deserted the ports of our old wizards
and stolen the tears from the guardian angels of my mind,
I repaint the sand, I talk through my hat and nothing is where it should be,
But I go round in circles, I lose touch, like a lion out of its cage
God, I can’t tell you goodbye,
I want to but, I simply can’t,
God, I can’t tell you goodbye,
Nothing in me can do it, I can’t tell you goodbye.

I can’t any more

Written By: Robert Lauri/Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Je ne peux plus”
by Robert Lauri, Danielle Bennaim & Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl)
I can’t talk to you any more
I can’t look at you any more
I can’t kiss you any more
Holding you against me, hard against me
It was in my heart that you sang
I existed in your life
When this unexpected sorrow took you suddenly in the unknown,
My love, all the roses have bloomed,
My love, there where you are only asleep
I feel you beyond my regrets
With other flowers waiting for me elsewhere
And my life, despite its need for you
Has recovered a little, I believe
And I wait for the day, yes the day
that will bring us together forever
I cannot fall sleep now without a flood of memories
overwhelming and capsizing me
as if they want me to die, to die.

My love, all the roses have bloomed,
My love, there where you are only asleep
I feel you above my regrets
With other flowers waiting for me elsewhere
And my life, despite its need for you
Has recovered a little, I believe
And I wait for the day, yes the day
that will bring us together forever

I’m so afraid

Written By: Robert Lauri/Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl

Lauri, Danielle Bennaim & Claudine Marousek-Dornhakl)
I’m so afraid to see happiness vanishing
I know that trembling does not help
But how can we sleep quietly telling ourselves that nothing
Can take this happiness away, not tomorrow, not ever
I’m so afraid that everything will break and die
In less than a day, in less than an hour
Quicker than we see flowers wither
I’m so afraid to see pain come,
To see misfortune invade our happy home
But how can we protect ourselves from torment, from the wind,
from the rain and anger and the demons of the earth
Oh, I’m so afraid that everything will break and die
In less than a day, in less than an hour
Despite myself, I’m so afraid
I’m so afraid someone will steal our happiness, I hold on
and say it can’t happen
And yet it continues to grow, despite the time I forget
I forget on your heart, all the dangers, all the bad luck

On a thread

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Sur un fil” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
Love walks on a thread
Above a precipice
None of us dares slip
A false step by one of us would make the other fall
tightrope walkers, we imagine each other
Balanced somewhere
Suspended above the void
Our lives are at stake day after day
Above the mountains, the plains
Beyond the distant lands
Above the fire of volcanoes
Beyond the oceans
On the wings of the vultures
Love slips like a silhouette
Above the eternal ice fields
Beyond the rainbows
Love runs against time
In the wind and the tempest
None of us should tell lies
A false step by one of us would make the other fall
tightrope walkers, in the moonlight
We cure our bad habits
lost between the sky and the water
Our lives are lived by reading our minds

Rosalynda

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
Rosalyn' your laugh hangs still under our roof
But your room is empty and your dolls cry quietly in the evening
Rosalyn' the night comes quickly, daybreak is late
Rosalynda when you are not there
Rosalyn' when are you coming to throw stones in the river
Rosalynda even the sun is waiting for you to come back
Rosalyn' the next holidays are too far away
Rosalyn' write to me sometimes
Rosalynda England is at the end of the world
Rosalynda when you are not there
Rosalynda Rosalynda
I see you everywhere
I make you out, Rosalynda
And I run
And I call you Rosalynda
Never mind if I am dreaming
And they say about me
That I become crazy
Rosalynda Rosalynda could you tell your mother
Rosalynda that there is no daybreak anymore in England
Rosalynda that without you my life does hardly count
Rosalynda that I feel deeply upset
And tell her that England is at the end of the world
Rosalynda when you are not there
Rosalynda when you are not there

I swear

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “ Je Jure” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
We are thousands to run after the sun
Give one a leg up to so many dreams that lie dormant
If one does not want to dream his life during his entire life
One must show his wolf’s teeth, his mask and his armour plating.
Walk straight ahead never look back
Those that are dying in omission and dust
The sad losers of this funny war that call for help
But one should not break the wolf’s teeth it’s made to crunch
I swear to go naked without masks and without weapons
I swear to go pure without tears and without tragedies
I swear to go on the savage roads
By greeting the warriors of passage
I swear, I live my life without armour
I swear my heart fears the wounds
They are thousands wishing to launch their ladders
Establish a fabulous bridge between them and heaven
And their entire life, they want to live another life
A life that blazes in the sun and the power
They invent themselves lines of chance that are not in their hands
A whole future of war to force destiny
One learns them that life isn’t easy then they break
Those that with all one’s heart look for happiness

17 Years

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “ 17 ans” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
At 17 and a little more
Never ours steps come back
Nothing brings up back
confident about us, confident about everything
In the twilight
Our eyes open barely
But our hands invent themselves a destiny
and draw thousand paths.
At 17, the days are only a game
At 17, love is not serious
In the wind, voices do not listen to each other
I did as if I did not see her
She did as if she didn’t hear me
And my heart was crying but I didn’t feel it.
At 40 and a little bit more
Still our steps retain ourselves
Nothing really pushes us forward
Afraid of us, afraid of the time.
Under the too dazzling sunlight
Our eyes open for so long
Don’t see anything anymore than the outlines
The false days, the bends.
At 40, love has nothing of a game anymore
She justifies herself, she calculates at the best
In the wind, voices do sell themselves sometimes
And she pretends as if she still loves me.
I pretend as if I still strongly believe in it
In the wind, voices do not have remorse
At 17 and a little bit more
Never our steps come back
At 40 and some wars
All our steps retain us
At 17 the days are just only a game
At 17 love is not serious
In the wind, voices do not listen to each other
I did as if I did not see her
And my heart was crying but I didn’t feel it.
At 40, love has nothing of a game anymore
She justifies herself, she calculates at the best
In the wind, voices do sell themselves sometimes

Withered flowers

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “ fleurs fanées” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
There are withered flowers everywhere
broken vases – breaks of love
Crumbled hearts
There are suitcases dragged during the night
In my head and in my bed
Silence that one undresses
It is the curfew in my life
There is no more light, no more sound
On me there are only bad angles leaning
She has teared up my photos
There is no more sun, there are no more birds
There are no more songs on my piano
There is no more future
There is a whole life
Not to be lived anymore
If you cross her change of sidewalk
Need to put an announcement in the paper
Need to warn that she hurts too much
She has the unbearable leaving
If you cross her change of sidewalk
She has lips of coral
She has the love that turns badly
She has the unbearable leaving
There are withered flowers everywhere
There are no more paths, there are no more roads
There are only pebbles
There is only a black heaven above me
A thunderstorm heats in my memory
He takes the water my despair
She released the hem of my life
I can not walk anymore I am out of balance
There I set-up in the past
She has cut up in my heart
A forbidden sense of happiness
A unique sense of pain
There is no more future
There is a whole life not be lived anymore

Deep, Dark Cities

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “ cités profondes” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
You, as you build yourself a world
Where only the walls give you answers,
Don’t lock away the seconds
And don’t let go the prey for the shadows
Your ambushes go wrong and under your laws
It is still the strongest who win
Don’t go building bridges
If there is no other shore
In the deep, dark cities
You think you are dying
A travel zone is the limit
That you place on your life
You, builder of towns
Where boredom alone is king
If you duck and weave on the spot
You are but fodder for everyone who passes you
They have the right map
Taking them where they want to go
Their star is always where it should be
They have what you spoil
They have what you throw away
Any everything you leave, they take
Go on – live, run, play, dare, spin the wheel
Don’t leave your share behind
Don’t give up your place
You who walk backwards
Watch out for the wall at the back
There are windows that open
On to lost time, bluff, blues
Forget the people who crush effort and gamble with fate
Creators of empty, yawning spaces
Don’t go looking for gold
Where there are no mines
If the benches and places are like mirrors
They reflect derisory gestures and illusory feelings
We all live in the suburbs
In the photo of life. I want you to be there too
Don’t be a stranger, don’t always let them
get ahead.

How to kill time

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Comment tuer le temps” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
How do you kill time
Tell me how to kill time
Tell me how to step through the screen
Of this old film where time passes
It’s always top of the bill
The box office hero
In his role as a lender of life
We hate it and throw it anywhere
Hollywood no longer has a grip
Hurl your calendars into the sea
And the candles from all your birthdays
There’s not a minute to lose
Boycott all his films
There’s a price on his head
Wanted: dead or alive.
Tell me how to hunt down time
In the useless old Far West
More like killers than bank-robbers
More violent than a gang of outlaws
It feeds on our white hair
on our lives, our joys, our wrinkles
And now it’s starting on our parents
Tomorrow, it’ll be our children
Hurl your calendars into the sea
And the candles from all your birthdays
There’s not a minute to lose
Go ahead, make my day
Tell me how to kill time.

You’ll be there

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Vous serez là” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
I’d like some of you back
Held tight against your quick breath
When your cries rocked the night
Amid the music and the noise
When your hands gave my life rhythm
I want to see your shining eyes again
I’d like some of you back
Some of our gentle evenings, our meetings
Some of our lifting bodies
Lifting ‘til the night’s end
In infinite music
I want to see your shining eyes again
I’d go down that road again
That takes me back to you
I’ll brave anything once more
The silence, the night, the doubt
The immense cold
And in that field of stars
Somewhere in the madding crowd
You will be there

Don’t yield in this world

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “donne pas dans ce monde-là” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
You know, memories
Are not good for the future
They stop us from growing
They shroud our smiles
They become more important
When you think about memories
They tell you stories
Don’t put too much faith in the memory
They whisper to you
And keep you awake at night
And when daybreak comes
They remind you "that the sun is dead"
Don’t yield in this world
Otherwise you’re no longer at home
When the past comes back into your life
Hang on
Don’t yield in this world
Once upon a time
Stories for a late bedtime
Your know, memories
Are not good for the future
They give you days for getting old
They make your heart wither and die
They stick to your life
When memories come back to life
It’s like an old film
With a Piano soundtrack
They whisper to you
And keep you awake at night
And when daybreak comes
They remind you "that the sun is dead"
Don’t yield in this world
Otherwise you’re no longer at home
When the past comes back into your life
Hang on
And tell those people
That there’s nothing else to see
And that your stories have lost their memory.

Ten years

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Dix ans” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
Ten years already that I have lost sight of you
Ten years already that the sky weighs me down
Ten years that I feel lonely that I am not talking to myself any more
Ten years that my heart does not see the colours any more
Ten years that I shoot a film of my memories
Ten years that I have put our eternity in the window
Ten years that my life is only a parking lot
Ten years that future sleeps in the naphthalene
And ten years
To live sad
I have put time
In a suitcase
Ten years that I have lost sight of you
Ten years that I think about you when nothing is that easy
Ten years I do not get along with happiness
Ten years that we do not leave at the same time
Ten years that I invent you in other bodies
Ten years that I am searching in the universe as a gold-digger
Ten years that there is no more gold on this earth
While leaving you have taken everything, you only have left behind stones
Nothing shines
On my planet
I work sad as a dog
On my mess
I shoot a movie of my memories
Since I have put our eternity in the window
Ten years that my life is only a parking lot
Ten years that future sleeps in the naphthalene
And ten years
To live sad
I have time
In a suitcase
Ten years that I invent you in other bodies
Ten years that I am searching in the universe as a gold-digger

It’s not the Ritz

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Ce n'est pas l'Alcazar” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
People often tell me
I’m anything but a with-it singer
That my songs will never be popular.
Which doesn’t sit well, with my heart all at sea
People often tell me
That my woes in love will not bring people running
They have what it takes to have a heavy heart
No-one sings along to songs that make you cry
It’s not the Ritz
None of your stories
Are a cause for celebration
They’re a fake
A waste of space
You’re really not a Star
If your heart hammers in pain
If your life has been set adrift
With a little imagination
We can still make sweet music
So I said to myself
That I’m going to forget I’d given up laughing
That I was disillusioned by everything that lives and breathes
That I wanted to set fire to my life
So I said to myself
That I’d forgotten to think that there’s no future
That if the earth keeps on turning it’s only to keep up appearances
That there’s nothing left to do in this old world
It’ll be the Ritz
My stories will give me
Something to wear sequins for
they’ll be real
Really real
I’ll really look like a Star
And if my heart hammers with pain
I’ll get my life back on track
I’ll have the imagination
To make sweet music.

My prayers

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Mes prières” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
When my hand
Lets go your hand
When my paths
Take other paths
When my roads
Lead nowhere
And the wind takes me where it will
I remember you and your laws
The light of that great fire we had
That’s when I’m afraid, when I cry
My lips pray and my eyes beg you
My prayers go up to you
You who forgives the errant ways of all men
And my soul dreams of nothing but you
Console it, please
My prayers go up to you
You who forgive the errant ways of all men
And my soul dreams of nothing but you
Console it, please
When I weaken
When I fail
When I hear my voice stray from your path
My eyes close, my heart clenches
My body drags itself along
And my life loses hope
Another me
Takes me tenderly along
Gently tormenting and getting me back together
That’s when I’m afraid, when I cry
My lips pray and my eyes beg you
My prayers go up to you
You who forgives the errant ways of all men
And my soul dreams of nothing but you
Console it, please
My prayers go up to you
You who forgive the errant ways of all men
And my soul dreams of nothing but you
Console it, please

If perchance I die

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

(Literal translation of the lyrics “Si je meurs par hasard” by Robert Lauri & Chantal Allon)
Don’t think that I would die because of it
Oh if you left me,
At most the whole world would stop turning,
How much even more sky would I have above my head
I could live without that, so don’t worry about me.
Don’t think that I would be lost oh if you went away
At most I would no longer have anywhere to go
How much more towns more countries more friends even would I have
I could live without that, so don’t worry about me
How much even my universe would fall to dust
Don’t worry about me; I would know how to lose you.
Yes, go, you can leave, leave nothing of yourself.
I would learn to live on anything
Don’t think that I would be all alone oh if you left me
At most I would be in a huff with at least the whole world
How much even I would sell my soul to have nothing to owe to devil
I could live without that, so don’t worry about me
How much even my universe would fall to dust
Don’t worry about me, I would know how to lose you.
Don’t think that I would no longer be anything oh if you left me
At most I would have no more future in the palm of my hand.
How much even you would be my destiny’s missing card.
I could live without that, so don’t worry about me.
When you will be far from me, if perchance I die.
I could live without that, so don’t worry about me

If the men

Written By: Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

IF THE MEN
Literal translation of the lyrics "si les hommes" by Robert Lauri/Chantal Allon

If the men wouldn’t mind to listen
To words for a long time
If the men wouldn’t mind to study
The science of times
If the men wouldn’t mind to respect
the real walk of time,
If the men wouldn’t mind to implore
The visit of other time
If Time could really forgive
The carelessness of the men,
If Time could erase
The blood shedded by the men
if Time could give again
the hope to the men,
If Time could grant
Another chance to the men
If Time could give to the men
The time to pull oneself together
If Time could give time
To the men to understand one another
If the men could overcome the instant
To better live the time
But the men do they still have the time ?
If the Time wanted still the men,
If the men wanted the Time,
If the Time rises faith,
And hopes,
If the men wouldn’t mind to start
To really believe in it,
If the Time wanted to erase
The madness of the past
If the Time wanted to forget
The false laws of the men,

If the men wouldn’t mind to listen,
If the Time could sing
The praises of the men,
If the men wouldn’t mind to give-up
All the presents of Time,
If the men wouldn’ mind to listen
To words for a long time
If the men wouldn’t mind to study
The science of times
If the men wouldn’t mind to respect
the real walk of time,
If the men wouldn’t mind to implore
The visit of other time
If the Time could console
The distress of the men,
If the men wouldn’t mind to remember,
The promise of Time,
If the Time could trust the men,
If the men promise,
If the men could trust Time
If the Time could forgive
