"Exclusive Interview: Rob Farnham"

Live Trading News’ entertainment reporter Rhys O’Connell had the
pleasure of sitting down with Australia’s Rob Farnham, who has
recently been playing to full house venues with his acoustic rock
sound across Los Angeles this month and we caught up to speak on his
career thus far.

Farnham was born and bred in the music industry at a young age and he
dropped out of school in the eleventh grade to pursure his passion for
music forming a band, Nana Zhami with his close mates at the tender
age of 17. After the band broke up, Farnham carved out a solo career
for himself where he played in smaller venues across Australia and
also supported his iconic father, John Farnham on tour supporting the
Main Event tour which featured Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow.

As his persistence and drive for musical success elevated, Farnham
continued writing his own songs and in 2011 he released his first solo
EP “So Long” which reflects his terrific writing ability and his
brilliant vocal range.

Rob Farnham is performing live at Lola’s in West Hollywood on
Wednesday May 9th at 8pm and Bar Lubitsch on May 22nd.

"Rob Farnham's Playing To Win"

SINGER/songwriter Rob Farnham is following in his famous father's footsteps and branching out into a solo recording career.

Farnham, 30, who has been playing in bands since the age of 17, is stepping out on his own with a four-track EP, So Long, that he hopes sparks the interest of record companies.

"For me this is a kind of coming of age sort of thing," Farnham said. "I decided it was time to put everything on my shoulders and give it a really good crack. I am not trying to fill anyone's shoes as far as my family is concerned."

Farnham said he realised he was going to be compared with his father, John, but had spent years learning his craft in bands before stepping up as a solo artist.

"People will always compare us and there will be tall poppy syndrome and all that sort of stuff," he said.

"That does not really bother me. I just want people to have a listen and if they like it, they like it. If they want to buy it, awesome, if they don't like it, well that is fine too.

"I can't escape who I am. I have grown up through school and through other bands where that (being John's son) has been a little bit of a focus. At the end of the day, I am who I am. It took me a long time to realise that it does not really matter and that I have to do what I enjoy and what I really love."

He said his father was fully supportive.

"He is my hero, he is my dad and he is my singing idol," he said.
"I played him the new stuff and he shed a bit of a tear. He was very, very happy and proud. To have his support means a lot ot me." - News Corp.
