"Country Music News August 2005"

"...think Michael Johnson meet Gary Fjellgaard...there's plenty here to be enjoyed. The songs range from positive vibes in the excellent Dear God, to a haunting message in Til' Death Do Us Part, and a whimsical look at things in I Wanna Go Again."

"Canadian Cowboy Country October/November 2005"

Bio

Rob Heath is first and foremost a storyteller who just happens to be a songwriter. He says it best, "I tell stories and I believe that our take on the world is moulded by stories. Music can give those stories an express ticket to the heart."

Born and raised in Edmonton, Heath was singing with his mum to the Everly Brothers playing on the radio when he was just a pre-schooler. At 13, he picked up a guitar and started writing songs. Songwriting became a lifelong passion. He's written for Glen Campbell Music, Criterion/Atlantic Music and Don Goodman Music, with songs recorded by various artists including the most recent North American release of his country/pop single "Wash Away This Kiss" by R.C.A. recording artists 3 of Hearts. One of his songs is currently on hold with Kenny Chesney and Gary Allen.

His previous two albums, Decomposing and Play On, contained the Top 40 Singles "Let's Go Round The World Tonight" and "Baby I Wanna Do Right". In 2002, he won the Canadian Radio Music Award for songwriting.

In 2003, Heath was one of only six songwriters out of 600 applicants, who were New Folk winners at the highly regarded Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. He joined the ranks of past emerging artists and alumni such as Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Nancy Griffith. In its 32nd year, this is THE songwriter festival of songwriters festivals... it annually draws 32 of the best of North America's emerging songwriters.

Heath's third CD Couple of Times Round the Sun, produced by Louis Sedmak, is a bittersweet look at life. From the haunting "What Jenny Draws" to the inspiring "I Believe", the album is a collection of some of his best songs to date. This lyric-driven collection is a blend of folk, country and pop in the storytelling tradition of Harry Chapin and Jim Croce. Eight years in the making, it is a well-crafted offering that, while down to earth, has depth and understanding.

To celebrate the release of Couple of Times Round the Sun, Rob performed with his daughter Ellie Heath on June 24th at Queen Alexandra Hall in Edmonton. At the end of June, Rob was part of the Songwriters Association of Canada's Bluebird North, produced by Shari Ulrich. He shared the stage with Gary Fjellgaard, Kevin Fox, Aaron Grant, Alison Hogan, Tamara Nile and Shaun Verreault (Widemouth Mason). August found him on a writing jaunt in Nashville and Los Angeles.

Stay tuned to your radio to hear Rob's second single "I Believe" off A Couple of Times Round the Sun and keep your eyes open for a performance near you.
