Bio

Rob Howell is an acoustic-based musician from Edinburgh. With viola player James Gibson, they create an eclectic mix of music: from orchestra-backed singer-songwriting to their own brand of drum & bass, with a unique blend of influences from across the spectrum.

Rob's vocals immediately reveal his South-coast roots, and often draw a comparison to Jack Penate, Nizlopi and Cat Stevens. As a solo artist, Rob is an established live performer within the Edinburgh music scene, and has played support for renowned singer-songwriters such as Men At Work's Colin Hay. As a member of Come On Gang!, Rob has performed at UK festivals such as The Great Escape, Reading, Leeds and Rockness, and played support for bands such as White Lies and Noisettes.

"I find that the best songs come from real-life experience, and that's how I write my own tunes. While our style of music is very different, I've always loved the way that The Postal Service managed to mix diverse, modern sounds with honest, personal lyrics – and that's what I want to achieve too. James Gibson's orchestration and Mikey Morrison's guitar both add a really distinctive sound, and definitely help move me towards that goal." – Rob Howell
