Excellent blues.I felt as if this one was for us "girls" singing our song, so to speak. I've been catching Robin live @ a small club in east Dallas, Chasers. She's a delite to hear and has been ushering in the Happy Hour there on Wed. night each week for about two months now.(Oct. 14,2004)

We love her style and can't wait for her to perform her hot blues. Two thumbs up to Robin's style and stage presence. Thank you Robin.

I saw Robin Banks perform at the Bone in Dallas, TX. She was amazing! I ended up buying her c.d. and I am so glad I did. I absolutely love her c.d. I listen to it all the time! She has an incredible voice and she is an incredible perfomer. I live in Minnesota, and I would take a trip to Texas just to see her perform again!

Robin Banks --"Live"
by Robert "Reverb" Tomberlin Rating: 10
I saw Robin in a live performance in a Dallas. Tx nite club. The lady is definetly "BLUE". The girl can "Wail and moan" soulful blue like I haven't heard in a long time. Anybody knows you have to live the blues to play it. The blues lives on with Robin Banks. "Blues ain't nothin' but a good girl feelin' bad", and Robin's original cuts go straight to your soul until you feel like you've been there. Buy this cd. I'm going to.

I was browsing for a song and ran across a song with a similar name by Robin... I clicked to listen, and I have been clicking and clicking, and clicking... the woman has got it going on! The Blues, the Soul, and The Heart are all a part of this wonderful collection of music. You gotta be from the south to appreciate some music, but with this... you just gotta hear to love Robin! - CDStreet.com

CD REVIEW Robin Banks CD "Honestly"
Robin Banks CD "Honestly" ain't just Blues! That one word can't describe what Robin Banks brings to the table. Her love for the music she is singing is so deep, that she makes you feel every note every nuance every beat ,that kind of power can only come from one place, her soul. With a voice as smooth as silk Robin lay's-em out and knocks-em back like shooting dice. And with" Honestly" you never get snake eye's only 7's and 11's across the board on this CD. Song after song you will be blown away even if you are a long time lover of the Blues or new to the game. This talented lady produced ,wrote, and arranged this gem of a CD. Their seems to be nothing Robin Banks can't do. So what is next ? Acting why not. The title cut "Honestly" is as true blue as it gets, but my favorite cut is track 5 "I'm In Love With Another Man" this song reminded me of an older hit you might have heard of "The Night That The Light's Went Out In Georgia" ."I'm In Love With Another Man" stopped me dead in my tracks I mean if you got to blow someone off and you need to use someone's else's music to speak for you than here is the song you have been looking for .The song is so tender for it's subject matter it rips your heart right out ! Robin Banks play's in Deep Ellum all the time for dates go to the dallasmusic.com calendar or go to her web sitehttp://www.robin-banks.net/ .When you get a chance check her out live.

"Blues Revue Issue # 72, November 2001"

ROBIN BANK$ has got the goods – Honestly (self release). This is her first record since leaving balmy Detroit, Mich., for the wilds of Dallas, Texas, where she’s put together a great band. Bank$ never oversings, and her sidemen are tight and confident. Songs get room to breathe, there’s plenty of subtle swing, and the production never gets in the way. Guest Sam Myers blows great harp on the shuffling charmer “Don’t Ya Love Me Like That” and banters with Bank$ on “I Need A Lovin’ Man”, and guitarist Hash Brown stands out. Other winners: The cooking Money rewrite “Work It Out” and the two stepping “Thunder and Lightnin’

"BLUES ACCESS REVIEW Fall 1998"

Canada’s Robin Banks is also serving it up hot and sultry and like it’s supposed to be done. Banks, she’s got, well, that is, she’s got … IT. Breathless when that’s the thing to be, too cool for school when that’s what’s called for, her Permanent Record (Acequis) finds her guilty of grooving with a Stratocaster-driven, bottom heavy trio led by her husband (as opposed to her man), guitarist Mark Martin. Martin’s vocabulary is drawn from those of Ronnie Earl and the Vaughan brothers, and his simple Strat set-up has the lean appeal that fluid guitarists have used to monstrous effect ever since Jimi and Buddy wrote the books. Now, experienced listeners will have heard Martin’s licks somewhere before, but that wouldn’t stop experienced dancers from shaking it. Originals do not stray far from the usual themes and rhythms, but they work fine alongside covers such as Jay Miller’s oft-recorded swamp beat thang "Sugar Coated Love," Jimmy McCracklin’s "I Just Got to Know" and Irma Thomas’s sassy signature, "You Can Have My Husband (But Please Don’t Mess with My Man)." Almost makes me want to get myself up to the Toronto area. Almost. - Blues Access Magazine - Carey Wolfson
