"Walk a mile with Robin DeLorenzo - and wear your dancing shoes"

Her voice is sultry - or bluesy - or rockin’. Her range is as wide as any number of musical styles you can imagine: ballads, rock n’ roll, emotional grit and more are a matter of fact for Robin DeLorenzo, a Jersey singer/songwriter with incredible lungs. This singer is the real deal.
DeLorenzo, a single mother, said she has always been a musician, working both locally and at far flung hot spots.
Fresh off a very successful stint in Nashville, she said she is beyond thrilled.
“After 12 years, 3 CDs, working with dozens of musicians and many hundreds of gigs later, I am performing my music at The Bluebird Café in Nashville,” noted DeLorenzo.
Now, with “Walkin’ Miles in my Shoes”, this soulful, dynamic talent brings a piercing newsound to listeners.
Truly a siren’s song, “It Does Something”, co-written by Manny Charlton, kicks off this CD with a rockn’, dancing, sexy song blasted with a strong dash of salt on that tequila - grabbing you instantly and making you want to dance too close - and too fast - with someone you desire.
Desire is a strong element, like a bright thread weaving throughout these powerful songs.
“Pink Ribbon Angels” is a haunting and all too familiar ballad, with a singer’s desire for freedom from pain, release from breast cancer and redemption from disease. This song
is the perfect haunting melody for anyone battling cancer, and should become a mainstay at every Relay for Life across the country.
When I heard the title track, “Walkin’ Miles in my Shoes” I was surprised to hear such a
lovely song about a gritty real-life reality: homelessness and the hundreds of thousands of hungry kids and families who dwell right here in America. Poverty is not a topic most singers bother to focus on, and DeLorenzo must be commended for her work on this moving, important song.
But if you crave some good old fashioned country styled drama, listen to “Just a Cheat”.
Shades of Patsy Cline come to mind when I listen to this song about much more than cheating, and the guest singer Bryon Smith is the perfect touch here. There is nothing like a classic country styled love song to get my heart racing - and this is now a solid favorite.
There are 12 offerings on this CD and I promise you will return to a few favorites many times.
After listening so often over the past two weeks, I think my favorite is “This Stage is Black”. I love a good tragedy mixed with hope - and as well all know, keeping the faith in the face of dark times is not a walk in the park. Click here to listen to this song.

Robin DeLorenzo, who just returned from a sell-out show in Nashville, is a musical triple-theat: a red-hot singer-song writer with plenty of soul, the chops to make it resonate and the stage persona to keep you smiling.
She will be performing at The New Jersey State Fair at The Sussex County Fairgrounds on Sunday, August 3rd, 8-10pm in the Performing Arts Tent, and also September 20, 4:00 pm at Highlands Festival at Waterloo Village in Stanhope. - The New Jersey Tomato Press

"Bluebird Reviews: Robin DeLorenzo, Walkin' Miles in My Shoes"

Because music is subjective and not objective, it must impact me before I am willing to publically comment on someone's livelihood and artisty. I give the review proces all that I can, by listening to a new CD several times. In the end, I discover something about myself and this gigantic world through the voice of a total stranger.

It brings me great pleasure to introduce Robin DeLorenzo. DeLorenzo may not roll off the tongue the same way as her favorable comparisons in Joplin, Raitt, Turner and Cher. Nonetheless, this powerful Americana singer/songwriter has worked and performed with some of the best in the business. Robin DeLorenzo's biography speaks volume; her artistry deserves attention.

Having been involved with many musical projects and various types of original and cover bands over the years, Robin comfortably settled into her music and in 2010, after working with Emmy Award Winning Producer/Arranger Lisa Ratner (Barbara Streisand) she released Wanna Fly (2010). The CD received rave reviews and the song "Shakey Ground" was awarded a Lady Lake Indie Music Award in January 2012 for Best New Female Song.

In 2012, Robin performed at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in The Steven Tyler Rock and Roll Show which led to her becoming the lead singer for Manny Charlton, co-founder of the 1970's Scottish Rock Band, Nazareth. During her time with Charlton she co-wrote "It Does Something", recorded the ten song CD Hellacious and headlined in places like Chihualhua, Mexico and Muscole Shoals, AL.

Robin has shared the stage, performed for and recorded with a few other serious Rock Legends such as Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Robert Sarzo, Guitarist (Queensryche, Hurricane, Ozzy), Tim Bogert, Bassist (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck), Vivian Campbell, Guitarist (Def Leppard), Steven Adler, Drummer (Guns n Roses), Walfredo Reyes Jr., Drummer (Chicago, Santana).

Summer 2014, the singer/songwriter performed a run of dates in the City of Country-- Nashville, TN, with a special stop at Bluebird Cafe. (If you're a fan of the hit TV show, "Nashville", then you recognize Bluebird Cafe as being the intimate hot spot where all singing characters make their debut.) Other high-profile engagements included New Jersey State Fair, The Cutting Room in NYC, and Highlands Festival, at Waterloo Village, Stanhope, New Jersey.

Track By Track

DeLorenzo and her musical compadre's delve into familiar territory, staking ground in blues, rock, country and R&B on the all-original, 12-track, Walkin' Miles In My Shoes. Whenever one instrument is not the center of attention, their harmonious culture blend like one big family. DeLorenzo sings of the good, the bad, and the ugly, in a brutally honest, 'wear-it-all-on-the-sleeve' songwriter approach. Her bright tone turns smokey, then bluesy, to raw and gravelly, a quality that paralell many of today's prominent female vocalists.

Standouts include: "It Does Something", co-written with Manny Charlton, is a sassy, angst-filled roadhouse stomp, featuring a scorned women who stares down an ex-lover before declaring her final ultimatum, "Do Something!" Lively saxophone and harmonica solos on, "Is This Love", continue to deliver an exuberant vibe.

On the title track, "Walkin' Miles in My Shoes", DeLorenzo brings the plight of homeless Americans to the forefront, an important reminder that WE can make a difference if only we take a stand. Then, heartbreak and palpable pain rise to the surface on, "Out of My Head".

The single, "Just A Cheat", is all Country, with plenty of steel lap slide, too. The duet, shared with Byron Smith, hit #7 on Top 40 Country Countdown. Similarly, "Instead of What you Said", should please followers of the syndicated internet radio station.

A tribute to those who have struggled with or lost their battle to cancer, "Pink Ribbon Angels" will touch everybody who listens. DeLorenzo's stunningly beautiful, angelic vocal delicately lifts "Pink Ribbon Angels" to the heavens above:

Hummingbirds flew and danced in the morning light
Around all the nectar she would pour at night
Smiling at us to make us feel alright, but she was hurting, trying to fight
We're pink ribbon angels,
Fight with love and live by faith

To close, acoustic guitar and cello amplify the melancholy, "This Stage is Black", a personalized look at what an artist experiences when their performance is over.

Walkin Miles in My Shoes is the most stirring collection of music I've heard of late. DeLorenzo is not afraid to express real emotion, delivering one powerful message after another. She sings like there is no tomorrow. If you're in need of a strong shoulder to lean on, I suggest you turn to Robin DeLorenzo's music, it will guide you through tough times. - Bluebird Reviews! CD REVIEW:

Robin is a powerful Americana singer songwriter who sings from her soul, writes from her heart and puts it all out there for every performance. When Robin sings everyone listens. She has a special way of grabbing the entire room with her first breath and holding on to them with every story telling note, almost as if time is standing still. She is magnetic, engaging and a true talent. Robin has been favorably compared to Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Tina Turner and Cher for her powerful vocals, emotional deliveries and passionate performance style. Her latest release “Walikng Miles in my Shoes” was released in 2014

The CD takes flight with “It Does Something” a slamming and upbeat, rocked-out guitar groove that serves up driving rock rhythm against slamming Organ, rocked out guitar against soulful vocal work from Delorenzo. Track 2 “IS This Love” downshifts a bit with its methodical Gospel Piano intro eventually lending itself into an impressive bluesy ballad that flows and ebbs its way through to emotional fruition. Kudos goes out to Rob Paparozzi (Harmonica) on Track 2. Track 3, the title track keeps thing moving in the right direction with its steady flowing rhythm, hooky chorus, and heartfelt message. The CD makes a great first impression dashing out 3 solid tracks in a row. I would classify this music as classic Rhythm and Blues, Soulful-Rock with elements of Singer/Songwriter and Country. Along the way you will notice impressive instrumentation with things like impressive solo guitar, Rockabilly style guitar, Organ, Saloon style Piano, Harmonica, Pedal Steel, Saxophone well placed harmonies all built upon a solid rhythm section to boot. The musicianship of everyone involved is clearly above the bar. Now turning our attention over to Delorenzo as for her vocal abilities, it voice works extremely well within the confines of this catalogue. She’s got a good look, a catchy mystique and knows how to sit deep within the pocket and sing a song with amazing vocal fluidity, and a lot of soul. Her voice goes down smooth and fills the space peacefully and unobtrusively with an infectious jagged edge. She’s got a good vibrato and impressive Mezzo Soprano to beet with much in the way of Power and finesse. The Songwriting is like an old pair of Blue Jeans world class, harmonies and melodies are well placed and well crafted. All the Engineering aspects are in check (Recording, Mixing, Mastering) as the CD possesses solid low end punch and crystal clear high end clarity. The Musicianship is world class and delivers everything you would expect from a Top-Tiered Country Production. The music reminds me of a combination between Shawn Colvin and Bonnie Rait. Other comparables for me include: Janis Joplin, Susan Tedeschi, Shelby Lynne, Lucinda Williams, Kim Carnes, Juice Newton, and Allison Krauss. I especially like the amazing solo segments throughout the CD – providing much in the way of musical variety. There are 1 guest vocal performances by Byron Crawford. All songs are well crafted and consistent across the board. From heartfelt “Just a Cheat” and “powerful Pink Ribbon Angels” to rocking “Instead of What You Said” to melodic “What Have I Have Done” to grooving “Broken Home” and “Hurt Me To” this CD has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with Track 12 “This Stage is Black” the perfect finale statement for an CD like this.

All songs over 3.5 minutes tend to drag you to the finish line. The "You're' such a Coward" comment on Track 4 is a bit over the top . Let the lyrics and music do the talking.

From start to finish on “Walkin’ Miles in My Shoes” Delorenzo bring the mojo and is a barnburner release from start to finish. Let me go on record by saying this is the best Robin D yet! The music is grooving, upbeat, soulful and entertaining. The songwriting – all consistent musical experiences, each one possessing a unique personality, flair and signature groove. The writing, playing and singing abilities of Robin Delorenzo and her band are rock solid. The artistic presence from Delorenzo is impressive and her overall persona is something many folks should gravitate towards.
