Bio

“Life is one long movie, don’t know the ending yet”
Sings San Diego based
Singer/Songwriter Rob Johnston. Giving us a glimpse into the optimism and depth of this exciting new performer on the music scene.

Once you hear his voice and unique style, it doesn’t take long to see that the movie of Rob’s life and music might just be academy award winning.

Following in the tracks of the great piano playing singer/songwriters, Rob engages the listener
with thought provoking lyrics, infectious melodies, and entertaining stage show all in a style that has been compared to everyone from Train and Ben Folds to Elton John.

He sounds "familiar and different, all at the same time". It is for this reason that Rob has the potential to become that highly sought after commodity, the career artist.

Rob began playing music at the age of 4 on his mother’s drum set. He quickly learned guitar and
then began to teach himself piano. It was at this time that his extraordinary gift for the piano
became evident. He then went on to release his first independent CD, "Chapter 1" which was a collection of his earliest songs and won a San Diego Songwriter's guild award.

In 2002 and 2003 he had the honor of performing the national anthem at Qualcomm stadium prior to the San Diego Padres MLB games, which fulfilled a lifelong dream.

In 2003 Rob moved to Boston and was inspired by the thriving original music scene there.

Returning to his hometown of San Diego, with new songs and a lot of life experience in tow, he quickly landed a regular spot at a local coffeehouse, performing weekly shows.

In 2006 he returned to the east coast and played shows with MTV artist Jon Robert and Chris Barron (of the Spin Doctors) including a critically acclaimed show at the world famous Bitter End in Greenwich village

Rob is living in San Diego and poised to write his life’s movie and share his music and voice with the world.
