Rob Martin

I picked up a guitar at age 10 after quitting the football team. My dad used to sit on the porch and call chord names, I would practice changing chords until my hands hurt. When there was no one around, I would go downstairs and play my favorite tapes - Tom Petty, Hank Williams, Clapton - and try to work them out on my guitar. At 11 I picked up the bass, and at 13 I picked up the drums. Music became the most rewarding part of my life. After I read a good book, when my family went to the beach, when the kids were at recess, I played music. When I was 15 I bought a multi track recorder and started to get my ideas down, recording tracks in my bedroom. By the time I was 17 I had over 60 songs recorded. I decided to collect a dozen of the best songs and make them into an album. I played all of the instruments, recorded all of the tracks with one 200 dollar microphone and gave the results to Jeff Romano, an audio engineer who's done work for Devon Sproule, Paul Curreri and the Dave Matthews Band. Jeff provided the perfect lens for my music, mixing and mastering with an ear for subtle acoustic nuances, really giving my music a breath of life. I'm in my senior year of high school, getting ready to attend college with an unabated passion for my music.
