Songs influenced by movies, deluded artists and cannibals. Add a rocking band, soaring vocals and a hat tip to past heros.

Biography

It is hard to stand still when you are covering so much ground. Pinning someone down into one musical style can be even harder. What is rock? What is alternative? Is it pop, folk or none of the above. Rob Mestric knows how to cover ground in all of the above styles. Drawing from classic influences such as John Lennon and The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Jeff Buckley, Rob Mestric is creating his own recipes dripping in sweet story telling tradition.

Simple yet classic songwriting held together with a strong sense of melody and dynamics. Rob's vocals and guitar are often the focal point of his music yet there is always space for a well-crafted musical change or instrumental break. With great amounts of detail focused on arrangement and tone colour, be it live or on record Rob Mestric's music always presents something new for the listener.

Drawing inspiration from poems, movie scenes, delusional souls and worse, Rob Mestric's songs are a journey into one man's perspective on the world as it is presented to him. An emphasis on the truth without judgement delivered with a distinctive voice that can raise the spirit or brutally bludgeon.

Honing his skills for several years with other groups, Rob Mestric has stepped out front with his own band in support of his debut CD 'Spaceman'. A rich mix of genres with catchy tunes and thoughtful lyrics, 'Spaceman' is a tribute to all Rob has learnt from and a strong statement about his future.

Lyrics

Three Steps

Written By: Rob Mestric

People buzzin' round you like an insect to the light
You're shining bright
Watching from a distance keeping low way out of sight
Fade in the night

And did you ever notice me before
I used to walk behind you, always three steps behind you
And did you feel my torture through the night
Your thoughts were deep inside me you're right inside me

Back in the day when we lived on the same street
You used to talk to me then
Way before the lights and the movies
You called me a friend

And did you ever think you needed me
You left it all behind you no way to find you
And did ou sell your soul off to the night
I tried my best to find you I'm right behind you

Leading lady won't you take your place on the stage
Yeah it's time for your big scene
Leading lady won't you make this one out for mme
'Cause only I see what I see

I've watched your rocket fly up in the sky so very high
What if you fall
Waiting for the people's mood to change don't close your eyes
They'll take it all

And did you ever think you needed me
You left it all behind you no way to find you
And did you sell your soul off to the night
I tried me best to find you now I'm right behind you

Leading lady won't you take your place on the stage
Yeah it's time for your big scene
Leading lady won't you make this one out for me
'Cause only I see what I see

You're like a scene from the movie screen
You're like a dream from the silver screen
You're like a dream

Leading lady won't you take your place on the stage
Yeah it's time for your big scene
Leading lady won't you make this one out for me
'Cause only I see what I see

Leading lady won't you take your place on the stage
Yeah it's time for your big scene
Leading lady won't you make this one out for me
'Cause only I see what I see

You're like a scene from the movie screen
You're like a dream from the silver screen
You're like a dream

Change A Day Prophet

Written By: Rob Mestric

I fear the words I say won’t make it through today
I try my best to see it through the eyes of another way
I want to hear you but I’m hearing what I say
You think I’m nervous when I’m looking off the other way

Look the other way
Change another day

‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change

People come and go they stop and listen on their way
I talk conspiracy they never listen to a word I say
I’m shouting out inside but a murmer whispers through
I thought I liked myself now is that a funny thing a funny thing to do

The crazy things we do
Should me be more like you?

‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change
‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change

‘Cause I’ve always felt this way for the longest time
And if I just stay the same I’ll be fine, fine

Look the other way
Change another day
The funny things we do
Should me be more like you?

‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change
‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change

‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change
‘Cause I’m a Change-a-Day Prophet
Change-a-day Prophet watch me change

Waves

Written By: Rob Mestric

Goodbye summer my old friend the times we’ve had this year round
You let us ride upon your skin your kisses shine like jewels on a crown

Laying down in the sand as the sun sets on our fears
Bottles of beers fall by the way how I’ve wasted so many years

Waves kept falling down
And the waves kept falling down
Waves kept washing around
And the waves kept falling down

Pack the boards up time to go boys sun is low on the ‘rize, on the ‘rize
Colder days ahead I feel the warmth from the north fime to fly, fly

Pack the gear in the van as the sun sets to our cheers
Riding waves like mountains of fear how I’ve wasted so many years

Waves kept falling down
And the waves kept falling down
Waves kept washing around
And the waves kept falling down

Talking to the boys back at the hotel drinking rum on the ice
Wishing we could have this day again I’ll drink to that maybe twice
Oh so nice

Laying down in the sand as the sun sets on our fears
Bottles of beers fall by the way how I’ve wasted so many years

Waves kept falling down
And the waves kept falling down
Waves kept washing around
And the waves kept falling down

Waves kept falling down
And the waves kept falling down
Waves kept washing around
And the waves kept falling down
