Bio

Hailing from a distant planet, in a galaxy 13,999 light years away, a robot named Desmond came across an ad in cyberspace that read, “WANTED: out of this world drummer!” Answering the ad, Desmond warped through time and space, to meet the 'hip young gunslinger' from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Immediately the two had a jam session and Desmond rather decided to make the musician a minion of his own band: Robots & Whatnot. With probably the most fitting ‘earthly’ birth name for a lead guitar player, the robot assimilated former Teddy KGB guitarist, Matthew Doom. Doom has an unworldly style of playing, and a tone which Desmond demands because it reminds him of his home planet. Desmond and Doom recruited former Teddy KGB lead singer, and multi-instrumentalist, Joseph Barnes to add texture. Desmond demands that Barnes try to translate the English language for him, for the only direct communication exists through email. He speaks mainly in code, weird code. Desmond, Doom, and Barnes kept in tradition of working with former band mates and went to recruit another recruit. This recruit was recruited from the recruitery which was their former party-power trio, Pops Acoustic Friendship. “Pops” bred many a victim, including bass player/translator/recruit, Blaine Sanders. With Desmond’s recent arrival upon earth it has been apparent that his message is something that must be experienced live and in the flesh. This newly formed band has taken 2009 by storm releasing their demo, Demos for Limos, and performing small (private, celebrity only) gigs that have been described as, "Professional wrestling meets Pink Floyd.” Creating a digital-analog-cyborg of a sound, Desmond has traveled a long, long way to deliver his sonic message. That message is clear. His band, Robots & Whatnot, will melt many faces in many places. One can contact Desmond directly via: robotsandwhatnot@gmail.com. He usually responds quickly because he’s a robot, and that’s what robots do. {}
