ROB STIMPSON

Rob began studying drum set and percussion at age 12 in Hackettstown, NJ. He began jazz studies while in high school at age 16 when he was accepted into the New Jersey Performing Arts Center's "Jazz for Teens" program for two years. While there, he studied with jazz greats Ralph Peterson, Mike Falcone, Don Braden and Ron Jackson. Also while in high school, Rob competed at the tri-state regional level of Guitar Center's national "Drum Off" competition.

Rob also received several awards in high school and college including the Scott Labrie memorial music scholarship, Paul Boccolini memorial music scholarship, and Michael Falcone memorial jazz scholarship.

While attending West Chester University, Rob was active in university enselmbles as well as freelance activities. During that time he has recorded for Fox NFL Films, performed at the Kimmel Center of Philadelphia, Chris's Jazz Cafe, The Mozaic, Longwood Gardens, the Media Jazz Festival, and live on the NBC broadcast show "10!" at the Loew's Hotel with R&B artist Remi Martin.

Rob has performed with such artists as Jesse Green, Paul Rostock, John Swana, Remi Martin, Dave Manley, Matt Niess, Greg Riley, Brian Betz, Dan Turkos, Andy Cheshire, Jon Barnes and Vince Lardier.

DAN TURKOS

Dan began studying electric bass at age 14 and became exposed to jazz through the artistic community in Delaware Water Gap, PA. Early experience came through groups at Stroudsburg High School, Moravian College, the Celebration of the Arts (COTA) festival, and at various professional appearances during high school. Dan began his upright bass studies at the age of seventeen and has continued to grow as a musician ever since.

He has performed at the COTA Jazz Festival, Media Jazz Festival, and at many clubs and restaurants in the tri-state area. Daniel has performed with jazz artists: John Swana, Greg Riley, Brian Betz, Bobby Sanabria, Steve Fidyk, Butch Ballard, Matt Niess, Mike Tomaro, Andy Cheshire, Rob Stimpson, Matt Monticchio, and Dave Manley, as well as many of Philadelphia’s top jazz performers.

Daniel is also very active in the classical music community. He is the Principal Double Bass of the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Ovidu Marinescu and served as orchestra President for the 2006-07 school year. In August 2005, Daniel appeared with the orchestra at the Catania International Summer Festival in Catania, Sicily. He was appointed Principal Double Bass of the Catania Festival International Orchestra led by conductor Daisuke Soga.

Daniel is an applied music teacher at the Westtown School where he gives private lessons. He is also a member of the International Society of Bassists and a brother of Phi Mu Alpha SINFONIA fraternity.
