dave unger was educated at grinnell college and the peabody institute of the johns hopkins university. after leaving a masters program in music composition at peabody, where he made a special study of microtonal music focused on la monte young, he and drummer angel formed love 666. love 666 recorded for amphetamine reptile on a roster that included boss hog, the cows, the melvins and today is the day. love 666 achieved international notoriety by virtue of their violent, free performances and anthemic records

after love 666 broke up, dave moved to nyc and volunteered at la monte young's dream house before forming a new band, rock, and partnering in a new label, feedback, with joe johnson (ex-love 666). rock recently completed a new album 'sympathy for the devil' and several us tours. 'sympathy for the devil' is an illegal album, using entire tracks by a well-known artist as the basis for new material. because of potential legal liability issues, the artist will not be named at this time. 'sympathy for the devil' is not a product for sale in any form by feedback llc, rock, or dave unger. it follows the rock virtual cover release 00 on 011308. from the rock website: "this goes a couple steps beyond the pussy galore cover of 'exile on main street' and what's happening in the current digital 'mix' culture. this series consists of exact copies of commercially available cds, with the original audio, packaging, polyvinyl and barcode. this is sampling the entire record at one pass and buying it is a revolutionary act 'cause that completes the last step in the artwork. buy this series and fuck up the system. buy this series and you're on the cutting edge of experimental rock. buy this series and you're on the leading edge of the new american youth culture". because of potential legal liability issues, the artist will not be named at this time. 'rock virtual cover release 00' is not a product for sale in any form by feedback llc, rock, or dave unger

rock is the leading provider of the state-of-the-art solution in rock music, including performance, recording, mixing, band personnel structure and conceptual form. total deconstruction and de-synced [re][construction] of all musical elements through free improvisation. total lead. locally de-synced individual free improvisation (fragments of song structure mixed with lead). globally de-synced free improvisation (the players don't listen to each other, unlike in other "free" music). electronically de-synced free improvisation (currently developing 'free mix' software). de-synced 'band' 'membership' (there are no fixed members in the band and the personnel can be different on every session / tour). radical use of and recontextualization of entire tracks and records by existing (previous) artists

rock is currently managed by a team that includes marc farre (merce cunningham and john cage) and troy fuller (wmg, yellow fever clothing) and is represented for us booking by dan rozenblum at thunderdome touring (today is the day, killing joke, chemlab)
