Bio
Debra Christiansen and Bruce Goebel have been performing for several years as an acoustic duo, Bruce on double bass, guitar and vocals and Debra on percussion, guitar and vocals. They’ve also performed with various musicians around Alberta. With many years of experience between them, they bring a unique style and repertoire to the stage with their mix of originals and covers.
As songwriters, several of Bruce’s songs have received radio play on various Alberta stations. The songs “Cowboy Bill” and “Dixie” co written by Debra and Bruce were selected for the finals of the 2005 and 2006 Calgary Folk Festival Song Writing Contests.
As well as open stages and folk clubs, they have also performed for the Grandview Stage Music Festival, Stony Plain Cowboy and Poetry Gathering, Edmonton Folk Music Festival Appreciation Events, The Works, Party in the Park and various Alberta fund raising events.
Debra and Bruce’s various musical influences have resulted in the self-titled CD, Rock and Flower. The CD is a collection of original and traditional songs inspired by their life in Alberta. They’ll take you from original folk to a few choice covers and traditional tunes. Produced and recorded by Colin Lay, guest musicians Jeremiah McDade (2007 Juno winner), Stewart MacDougall, Cam Neufeld, Michael Sabourin, Howard McKay and Ken Zellar help to round out the mix.
