"Poetic & Pleasing"

"Rockdove is a wonderful collective of seasoned musicians who have an undeniable musical chemistry. From 'The Hours' to 'Middle Of The Lawn' [their songs] are poetic, harmonically pleasing and just flat out toe-tapping fun. "
- Rebecca Martin (singer/songwriter http://www.rebeccamartin.com) - Rebecca Martin

"Brilliant Sparks"

"Rockdove’s lyrics are smart and musing, while the power of the songs hits you right in the gut. Moreover, they know how to rub acoustic instruments and electric instruments together in just the right way to generate brilliant sparks."
- Adam Levy (guitarist for Norah Jones, songwriter http://www.adamlevy.com) - Adam Levy

"Golden"

"Rockdove’s songs are golden and plain, like any great poem you've memorized and carry with you."
- Eric Metzgar (filmmaker, "The Chances of the World Changing" http://www.merigoldmovingpictures.com/) - Eric Metzgar

"Super Group"

"At a time when we're overwhelmed by a million different bands, Rockdove is a super group in every sense. Each of the members of Rockdove is a powerful musical force alone, and put together the results are truly breathtaking. From lush, gorgeous ballads to grooving rockers, this band covers all the bases. Sandy's gorgeous, soulful singing, Alice's beautiful, deep sounds, John's playful, intense playing, Laura's churning grooves...see them now while you can still get in the door."

Bio

At Rockdove’s debut performance, the band quickly transformed a loud and rowdy crowd of strangers into a rapt audience with the quiet power of their music. With heart wrenching songs about the sadness, suffering and the great beauty of living they turned the heads of people who heard their own lives reflected in the songs, and brought the strangers together.

Rockdove can do that. Gorgeous vocal harmonies and funky Muscle Shoals grooves, great songwriting and great musicians, sad, Nashville-skyline drenched ballads and love, love, love in their hearts, honey. Rockdove loves you.

Close your eyes, and take in the sounds of Rockdove. You’ll hear Patsy, and Loretta, and the Band, and Aretha and Tom Petty and Nick Drake and the Carter Family too. But mostly you’ll hear music sung with the soul of a gospel choir, because darlin’, they BELIEVE in this music...

Rockdove’s agenda? Find a balm for the ache of helplessness; stay true no matter what. It has worked like a charm.

Rockdove may be a relative newcomer on the scene, but it is comprised of four musicians with many years of experience. Sandy Bell, Alice Bierhorst, Laura Cromwell & John Mettam are all multi-instrumentalists & composers who have worked in numerous projects as bandleaders and sideplayers. Bringing all of their strengths together makes Rockdove such a rich and flavorful stew. (see below for capsule bios of each member)

Sandy Bell is a singer-songwriter whose riveting live performances have captivated audiences from coast to coast. Her debut album “The Good Daughter” was released in 2004. A natural musician, she has learned several new instruments on the job with Rockdove. She is also featured in “Amazing Grace” an award-winning documentary about friend and fellow free spirit Jeff Buckley. http://www.sandybell.com

She has played drums for numerous artists including Sandy Bell, David Celia, Greta Gertler, Michael Holt, Joe Keady, Rachel Loshak, Rebecca Martin, Felix McTeigue, Eric Metzgar, Katie Sawicki and Beth Sorrentino. http://www.alicebierhorst.com

Laura Cromwell has recorded and toured the US, Europe and Japan extensively as a drummer with such legends as God Is My Co-Pilot, Truman’s Water, Cibo Matto, No Safety, Buffalo Daughter, Takako Minnekawa, Backworld, Dusty Trails, Mr. Dorgon, Dim Sum Clip Job, and The Vivian Sisters. She recently performed with Enya and is currently working with art rock ensemble Queen Moonracer. http://lauracromwell.com

John Mettam has kept busy recording and touring in a variety of musical situations as a drummer with artists including Melissa Errico, Dee Carstensen, Vicki Genfan, Goats in Trees, Matt Darriau's Paradox Trio, Clem Snide, and numerous others.
