Bio
Rocket 88 is a four piece band built on good, old-fashioned rock and roll. Ever since forming in 2006, the band has been devoted to rock legends like The Beatles, The Who, Grateful Dead, and The Allman Brothers Band, as well as some newer artists like the Kings of Leon and JET. This mix of influences gives the band their old-school rock and roll sound.
The name Rocket 88 comes from a 1949 Oldsmobile called the “Rocket 88” and a 1951 Ike Turner song about the car that is often credited as the first rock and roll song.
Recently the band has exploded onto the local music scene playing venues ranging from bars like the Blinkin’ Lincoln, to festivals such as the Turk's Head in West Chester, and even to theaters like the Colonial Theatre and The Troc. Looking forward, Rocket 88 plans on writing more original material and increasing their exposure.
