Former front girl and songwriter of Sharkboy, Avy’s brand of washed out cinematica became the cult choice of kids who didnt feel the need to buy into the Brit Pop juggernaut and anticipated the rise of both loungecore and alt country. Along with Drugstore and Gallon Drunk they stood to one side, producing two critically acclaimed albums with Nude Records.
Avy continued to write and record, briefly collaborating with Robin Guthrie, formerly of the Cocteau Twins. A stint as bass star with seminal Brighton band The Fuck You Planet Earth followed, she has found new inspiration in Rockhard Garçons world of sound.
Rockhard Garçons is a play both on words and on the perception of a 'band' of musicians - in that all instruments are either pre-recorded or performed by Avy during the live set. The name is a corruption of Raquin Garçon, named after Avy's previous band.
