RockStar is Detroit's Premier Hair Band Tribute Show showcasing all of the great hard rock hits from the '80s. From Bon Jovi to Whitesnake, Def Leppard to Poison and everything in between, RockStar recreates the big hair, big show, and big fun that was prevalent during the hair band era.

RockStar began its journey into the great unknown on January 1st, 2002, spawning from two guys who wanted to get back to playing songs that they used to play “back in the day”. The 80’s were always a fun time, and the guys knew that was their favorite music. Noticing a trend with other bands in the Detroit area that played contemporary 80’s music, they saw a nitch that needed to be filled – hard rockin’ 80’s hair band music! Joining up with them were three like-minded souls who enjoyed 80’s hard rock just as much, and RockStar was born.

Their first gig was in a bowling alley, playing for new fans and lots of friends, and that trend follows them today as new fans constantly come to see what people are talking about. Word-of-mouth has done RockStar well, as have various websites on the internet promoting the band’s gigs. The band’s own site,, has been visited thousands of times, and continues to be a way for fans and new friends to join in their online family.

As more and more people are exposed to RockStar’s abilities, they are captured by their talent to bring hair band music to life. Songs from such artists as Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Warrant, Poison, Twisted Sister, and Quiet Riot come alive on the RockStar stage. The band dresses the part, donning the regalia that made the 80’s rock scene famous such as spandex, big hair, and leather. The music, the stage, and the look are all important parts of RockStar’s ability to transform any show into an 80’s Heavy Metal experience. Five very talented musicians intensely rock the beat of every song they play, making sure to stay true to what made the rock and roll as popular as it was back then - with rawness and tenacity.

RockStar bills itself as “Detroit’s Premiere Hair Band Tribute Show”, and they live up to that billing to bring the 80’s hard rockin’ hair band scene to life every night. LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL!
