"Metro Spirit review of One For Your Mind"

“Infusing reggae and ska with a definite rock n roll quality of lyrical poise and guitar swing, The Rockstone Players arrive on the scene with 'One For Your Mind.' ....The poetic springs hidden between the simpler rhymes shine light on deeper meanings worth consideration” -J. Edward Sumereau - Metro Spirit, Augusta, GA

"The Beat review of One For Your Mind"

“The Rockstone Players offer One For Your Mind (Rockstone), a mix of rock and reggae they call 'American Rockers.' Energetic youthful exuberance, ...and guitar parts reminiscent of the Police into a punky reggae mix rooted in the '80s on angst-ridden songs...” -Chuck Foster - The Beat Magazine

Bio

Mat Gilbert formed The Rockstone Players in Connecticut in 2003. The idea was for the band to be an ever evolving collective of musicians. After moving to San Francisco in 2005, a coworker from El Salvador dubbed him "Mateo Peligroso" and he adopted it as a stage name.

The Rockstone Players released their debut album "One For Your Mind" in 2007, a collection of Mateo's songs that were recorded in CT and CA. The lineup of musicians includes Noah Friedberg, J. Curland, Rob Freeland, Drew Miller, and David Estes. Their second studio album, released in Oct 2011, is a collaboration with roots reggae singer Culture Canute entitled "Culture Canute & The Rockstone Players". Mateo and Rob continue to be the core of the group, but this album brought in Phil Brown on drums and Danny Korenblum on keyboards, helping to create the reggae vibe. They are currently booking tour dates for 2012 in support of the release and will be entering the studio this year to begin working on the the next RSP album. The working title is "Dubmaster San Francisco"
