Bio

A love of 50's rock'n'roll and a fascination with guitars inspired Rodney to start playing at age 10. Encouraged by a family of musicians he also learned bass, drums and mandolin. His early musical influences ranged from Bill Hailey & the Comets to Johnny Cash to AC/DC.

By the age of 15 Rodney and his brothers formed their first cover band RACK'N'RUIN and played the Hunter pub and club circuit for 6 years. During
this time Rodney discovered a passion for songwriting, and in 1996 Rodney and his brothers formed the original trio BROWN HOUSE RATS. They released an EP and supported bands such as Custard, Died Pretty & Skunkhour. He then moved to Newcastle and joined retro funk cover band WOBBLE.

In recent years Rodney has enjoyed the live circuit touring the country with Jon English's concert band playing lead guitar and singing harmonies. He also toured with Jon English's musical BUSKERS AND ANGELS in 2000.

His song writing covers a broad range of styles including rock, folk, country and blues. The lyrics are drawn from life experiences, and take the listener on a journey of images and emotion.

Rodney currently contributes original songs to the live performances and recordings of the country pop group JONAH'S ROAD where he plays guitar and mandolin and sings harmony vocals. JONAH'S ROAD are enjoying rising success in the Australian music scene and Rodney Auld plays a significant part in that success.
