"Rodney Talley speaks "Revelations" about his music, family, and ministry"

"With his soulful sound and inspiring lyrics, Rodney Talley is soon to be a force to be reckoned with in today’s gospel music industry. Those who know him best describe him as “anointed,” “gifted,” “passionate,” “sincere.” Opening for Karen Clark Sheard and sharing the stage with gospel artists Smokie Norful, Donald Lawrence, Darryl Coley and most recently Jessica Reedy, Rodney’s smooth vocals are reminiscent of John Legend, and his melodic vibe is comparable to Music Soul Child and Stevie Wonder. His talent has also been featured on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show produced by BET.

Rodney Talley’s lead singles “Just One Word” and “Son Shine” from his debut album “Revelation” reflects a soulful yearning for God. Rodney enlisted the help of renowned producer Herb Middleton and newcomers David Downing and P3 Music to complete this project. Equipped with soulful sounds and an unique gospel/r&b blend, Rodney’s music appeals to fans of all genres of music and to all demographics. Rodney reminds us through his original lyrics that stepping out of God’s will is not an option; we must wait for God’s Word to come to fruition." -http://www.rdrentertainment.com

Note: You'll love his sound. I was listening to his music while arranging this story and he represents a great music ministry and truly loves the Lord.

-----

Tell us a little about yourself. What made you get into the music business? Who were your inspirations? As a young man, I was always inspired by music, instruments, and artistic people. I grew up singing and dancing, and desired to be able to entertain people as I thoroughly enjoyed. I sang R&B for most of my youth until God showed me how my gifts could be used to build His kingdom. Years later, I have finally recorded by first gospel project that was truly inspired by my mother. My mom is one of my greatest inspirations. She would always sit in the audience at many of my shows, and somehow give me a sense of calm when she’d nod her head, basically saying, “Everything will be alright!” My dad and the rest of my family are also the reasons why I keep on pressing and living day to day, and pushing forward so that they could that they raised a Godly man.

Describe your music to our readers. My music is not your traditional gospel sound, but one that soulful, that many can groove with. It’s falls on the scale of R&B as far as some of the arrangements and tracks are produced, but does not lack Jesus in the chorus and verses. My music is written from real life issues, and has encouraged Christians, and tug at the hearts of those who are unsaved to come to Christ.

What do you bring different to the table?I believe that I bring a new sound, as I often hear, that many have been waiting for. Everyone is busy trying to sound and look a like, but I come basically to bring Jesus in my own way.

What kind of feedback have you had thus far?So far, many people have been enjoying my music and CD nationally. I’ve been blessed to hear some of the great comments that my music was used during services, in hospitals, during prayer, and it encouraged and lifted the spirits of those who were going through. My new single, “Just One Word” is now being played in rotation on a Philadelphia local Gospel Channel, Gospel Highway 11. I am honored that they would choose to play that song, as it was one written during a time of being broken, and challenged in my faith. There are other radio stations around the country, in Florida, North Carolina also that have been playing my first single, “Son Shine.” I pray that it will continue to touch all the airwaves, and cause the world to hear it.

What have been some of your challenges? My greatest challenge was losing my mother during the recording process. Being a Minister of the Gospel, and sort of looked at as the leader of my family was rough. She was a prayer warrior, herself. My family and I are extremely close, and to see the hurt in everyone else’s eyes is still a challenge, and trying to get through it. However, we pull together and lean on God. It’s not easy, but God allowed me to write a song specifically about that situation of her passing, and it’s been helping us, and so many others who have lost a loved one. It’s called, “We’ll see you again!” At first my family could not listen to it, but I say it’s a ‘must hear’ to anyway going through bereavement, or the challenge of losing someone so dear to them.

What upcoming projects to you have that readers should know about (if any)? Presently, I am preparing for my concert at Warm Daddy’s in Philadelphia on November 21, while Simultaneously working on a campaign to raise money for my project on kickstarter.com.

What kind of support have you received?I have received support from family, radio stations, Pastors in getting my project out there. I have had the opportunity to travel along the east coast, being invited to churches to share during Sunday service or with the youth about the goodness of Jesus.

If you needed help with anything, what would it be? Financial Support is always a good help. We are trying to get the album to every major radio station across the country. We are soon to work with a promotional company that will help with that. However, in order to do that, money is definitely needed. Also, I would love for the word to get out even by mouth about the CD, and to purchase it from itunes.

What is your favorite bible verse? book? etc..and why? My favorite Bible Verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you...” I have a few more, but this one always lets me know that whenever my plan isn’t working out, (and it usually does not) God’s plan is the way to go. He had a plan before I was born, and I was not an afterthought. Neither was anyway else. God already divinely planned out our lives. So I had to learn to trust in His plan. As the song says, “The safest place in the whole wide world, is in the will of God!” Very true, and I thank God for having a plan for me.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years? In five years, I see myself with another album, having a few Stellar Awards, while writing and producing for other artists. Also, I am going to have a performing arts school that will teach wholistically about cultivating the gift, but also building your esteem. Many artists have low self-esteem although they seem like they are okay on the surface. I want to make sure that we deal with that in the school because most schools teach that you have to be #1, but we have to work our way to #1 in a healthy manner, and truthfully that’s with Jesus. - Examiner.com

"Revelation by Rodney Talley"

Rodney Talley’s subject matter may be about Christianity but his music production is
not your traditional Gospel music. He has the soulful delivery of John Legend and Carl
Thomas, and it’s obvious that Rodney is trying to reach everyone through his music
and not just the people in the pews of the church.

“Son Shine,” is by far my favorite song on his album because it well produced with
great lyrics, and brilliant harmonies. He talks about real life disappointments and
experiences and asking God to shine His light on him. The vocal delivery is on point
because you can feel he truly means what he’s saying.

Rodney is on a mission to bring life music to Christian music. The only improvement
that I see needs to made is in the area of mixing. Overall, this album is definitely worth
listening to if you’re into Soul / R&B music.

MUSICAL GOAL: “The ultimate goal for the music that I write is to introduce Jesus
Christ to people from all walks of life in a non-traditional, effective and creative way;
penetrating their very souls bringing about healing, deliverance, wholeness, and a
change to those have been broken, feeling like giving up, and experiencing hard
times...ultimately introducing them to “LIFE.” I want them to know that there is an
Anchor that will be able to hold them steady during the course of their storm.” –
