Roenik

Roenik formed in late 1999. Frontman and guitarist, Niels Nankler and former bass player Joel Magnusson had known each other from birth. Jonas Lundberg (guitar/backing vocals), Jonas Wållberg (keyboard) and Christian Titus (drums) joined up with the two childhood friends in high school. Later John London took place behind the bass. Inspired by the music of bands like Beatles, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Silverbullit and Spiritualized, the five friends started their own band.

The band self released an EP called “Unique” in 2006 with a single called “We Could Have Been”. The single climbed the Swedish charts to number 18. Such immediate success, convinced the band they should record an entire album. Shortly there after, they traveled to the UK to start the recording of their first full length album with producer/mixer Yoad Nevo (Jem/Goldfrapp).

During the on/off recording of their self financed debut album, the band continued to promote themselves in their home country. Niels were no stranger to political activism after being arrested for protesting the closing of a youth center soon to become casino while still in school. Their commitment, absolutely zero tolerance for the establishment and a lack of venues in the Gothenburg area, lead to a great marketing campaign.
