Bio

With surprising range Rok sings the message of God’s saving love to anyone willing to listen. His Contemporary style influenced with mixtures of R&B, traditional gospel and personal vocal couture make Rok’s music and technique as resilient and vibrant as the man himself. Born in the Bronx, NY on August 20, 1976 and currently residing in Harlem, Rok was born to sing. “Our dad used to make us sing when we didn’t want to go to bed at night,” Rok says about his first interactions with music. Rock soon began to sing in a family group composed of his baby sister and two brothers called Genesis and Men with Power, a group of friends. Venturing on to Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL, he also sang with the Dynamic Praise and Madison Mission Gospel Choirs as he traveled from New York to Bermuda, and Virginia.
While at Oakwood College, Rok met Xavier O'Connor, founder of Testimony Ministries Inc. Seeing a chance to realize his dream; he began to record in O’Connor’s personal studio, Studio 604. The college produced a CD entitled More Than Conquerors, on which Rok wrote and performed “I’ll Follow You,” a Latin flavored ballad. Currently, BORN TO SING is the album for which Rok is actively writing, producing and recording.
With neo soul essence and tunes of traditional gospel, this album is a compilation of creative vocal and musical content. The contemporary gospel CD includes tracks such as Let It Go, a song about giving one’s talents and ministry to God, and Child I’m Still Here, Rock’s personal testimony of God’s constant guidance. A music education major, Rock's goal is to light a spark in the hearts of people across the world through a message of God’s love. If you ask Rok what inspires his music, he’ll tell you that
“Life is my inspiration and music is my release.” If you ask this man what God means to him, he’ll tell you God is his Father, his constant, someone who continues to make himself real in Rock’s life, as he has each day since he was born to sing. ...”
