Rokeby Venus (QLD) – Bio

To the average listener, Queensland’s Rokeby Venus could be mistaken for an acoustic Good Charlotte with a distinctly Australian, John Butleresque vibe. Its Folk/Rock at its best, similar to that feeling you get from warm, clean undies straight from the dryer on a cold winter’s morning and the kind that leaves you smiling for days.

Although reluctantly fitting into any one box, these boys have been leaving a massive impression on everything they touch and plan to follow it up in 2012 with a tour late August and a new release for early 2013.

Jumping into the scene in 2009 with their EP “Somehow” , produced by Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray, Xavier Rudd) the duo were quickly noticed with catchy single “The Party Song” making its way into commercial radio (Nova, Triple M, Radar Radio) and the film clip landing itself on rotation in every Fitness First Gym, ABC program RAGE and synced to 5 Surfing video’s through Surfing Australia.

Through this exposure they were further invited to play “ Riverfire” an event held to launch Austereo’s digitial service and invited to play at the “Bell’s Beach Surfing Pro” to thousand’s of punters. The film clip to second single “I can tell you this” won an award for “Outstanding Promotional Potential” and was added to RAGE which led to a mentoring prize with Secret Service Angency’s , Dew Process Record’s (Powderfinger, Sarah Blasko, Silverchair).

Armed with the momentum of a successful debut release, the duo were then invited to play a residency at prestigious Brisbane music venue “The Tempo Hotel” which has led to supports with Ian Moss, Diesel, Sarah Mcleod, Tijuana Cartel and The Beautiful Girls.

The follow up to their hugely successful release “World’s in Collision” saw the duo take to the road with SA act “The Fridays” in a double header and tour the East Coast to receptive audience’s which resulted in an invite to play Woodford Folk Festival.

Now armed with a loyal following the boys are making tour plans for late August and after signing to Indie Label Kekki Records are working on a new release for early 2013. It’s Folkn’ Goodness.
