Rollergirl! has been providing uplifting disco infused electronic tracks for some time now and still seems to be going under the radar most of the time. Hopefully it is time for this to change and with the debut album coming out tomorrow (31st March) it couldn't be a more exciting time for fans of the fun loving producer. "Boogie Down" is the first track that has been released from the debut LP and if the rest of the album turns out like this then it is going to be a hit coming into the warmer months using nostalgic synth sounds and straight laced grooves to build warm and embracing feel good tracks. - EARMILK
Shoutout to extremely focused artist. You see the Patrick Nagel nodding artwork above, you see the name Rollergirl!, what do you expect to hear when you hit play? A disco house inspired roller skating jam. What do you get when you click play, a disco house inspired roller skating jam. That's focus. Personally, I've never roller skated. Never spent time learning elaborate dance tricks or trying to romance girls at a roller rink. However, I did see both Roll Bounce and ATL in the theater, so your boy can speak with some authority on the subject. Rollergirl!'s "Boogie Down" is a track old heads in the 70s would've really been into. It also sounds like something Justice and Daft Punk would salivate over now, but "Americans in the 70s" and "French House DJs in 2014" are pretty much the same people. Rollergirl!'s debut album I Love You Rollergirl drops tomorrow. Summer drops at some point in the near future (theoretically). These two facts are linked somehow. - MISHKA NYC
Mixing slinky retro splashed with come-hither samples equally seductive and soulful, Rollergirl brought thumping nouevu-disco, bright electronics, and glitter-on-the-roller rink with the release of their self-titled debut this past Halloween. We talk to one-man commander of dancefloor noir Adam Rich about his approach to Rollergirl, his sampling technique, and being under the influence of nostalgia. - Brite Winter
Relive the disco era with this high energy hit from shortminthair X Rollergirl! Feel good music you can enjoy endlessly from two talented producers.
Tokyo-based producer, shortminthair also known as Shoko Yamaguchi and Adam Rich who makes disco under the better known moniker, Rollergirl! and their creation, Birthday Girl, is a disco pièce de résistance. Rollergirl! saw so much potential in the original by shortminthair, that molding it into a dance floor hit was what he had to do and what he does best. Despite putting his own flair into the track, Adam maintains that he sought to respect Yamaguchi’s original arrangement. - hhhhappy
The special guest of the evening will making the way from Athens, Ohio. Rollergirl will be letting loose a catalogue of future-retro disco stylings. From disco-house, to nu-disco, to french-house, Rollergirl’s work channels the disco cheese of the past and pumps it through some clever midi-sequencing. - Dance Party Chronicles
