"You’ve GOT to Hear This: Roman Lewis – “Lighter”"

In a world awash with singer songwriters it can be difficult for an artist to establish themselves as an act worth paying attention to. But Roman Lewis looks set to do just that. Still only 15 years old, Roman’s writing and delivery display a maturity that you might associate with a singer of much more advanced years. He released his first single “Lighter” earlier this year and when he sings “I’m not as strong as I used to be” it is both emotive and believable.

“Lighter” caught the attention of Charlie Ashcroft at Amazing Radio who put it on his influential Audition Show. Subsequent release “Relatively Minor” won that week’s audition poll leading to Roman’s first radio airplay in the United States, with his third release “Mindless Town” also featuring strongly. As if that wasn’t enough this summer he melded his musical skills with his acting chops to play the role of Charlie Simpson in James Bourne’s “What I Go To School For – TheBusted Musical” at the Theatre Royal, Brighton.

Bilingual, having lived in both England and France, Roman is equally comfortable singing in both languages and is fast developing a following on both sides of the channel. Comparisons with Jeff Buckley can sometimes be as much of a hindrance as a help, but they don’t seem out of place with respect to this emerging talent. With gigs at West London’s historic The Troubadour and Camden’s former Barfly already under his belt Roman’s live performances are certainly worth looking out for. He plays The Cellar at The Finsborough Arms this Friday October 7th and you can catch up with some past performances on his YouTube channel in the meantime. - A Music Blog Yea?
