Romanza is Philip Grant, Todd Jang and Frederik Robert, three classically trained young singers charged with vitality and talent and born to entertain on the international stage. Bridging the gap between Opera and Pop, Romanza is accessible to music lovers of all kinds.

Singing of love, conquest, betrayal and heartache, from a melting serenade to a spine tingling 'high C', the tenor voice romances. Romance is the art of the tenor.
Philip Grant, Todd Jang and Frederik Robert have been identified as "three talented, young, classically trained singers who have separately been delighting audiences across North America and Europe." Now together as ROMANZA, they have been winning people's hearts everywhere they perform. In fact, their official "launch" concert in Victoria sold out to a packed house of 1500. Robert Campbell, Theatre Director of Maple Ridge Arts Centre wrote about them " “Their performance here at the ACT was the best attendence we have had for a classical performance". They have also been profiled on CBC Radio2, The New VI, CKBD 600, A Channel and CFAX and have quickly earned a reputation as fun loving, approachable and talented artists. In an interview on CKBD 600 Rafe Mair said “their passionate and sensationally enchanting sound combined with their accessible style has been exciting music lovers of all levels. Keep your ears open for ROMANZA- you won't want to miss them." They are undeniable, joining in harmonies that swell and subside masterfully, charming you along the way with their obvious love of singing.

The three friends infuse their performances with their offstage camaraderie warming the audience with their intimacy and humour. ROMANZA have taken tenor repertoire to new heights by re-invigorating opera hits, Italian favourites, popular folksongs and well-loved ballads with their own
irresistible and original arrangements for the contemporary audience. ROMANZA is the real deal. Authentic. Talented. Genuine.

Romanza performs with a variety of performance ensembles. Options include ROMANZA with Piano, ROMANZA with Piano, Violin and Concert Bass and ROMANZA with full Orchestra.

Eyes are on Philip Grant. Through his performances across Canada, The United States, Italy and Mexico he has become known for his exciting rich tone as well as his dedication to excellent musicianship. With more than a dozen lead roles already under his belt Philip is quickly establishing himself as an emerging young talent worth taking seriously. On the operatic stage he has performed with Vancouver Opera, Opera Nuova, Il Ruggiero di Bologna, Teatro Corleone and Opera Breve. His pacific northwest concert appearances include performances with The Vancouver Symphony, The Vancouver Philharmonic, The Vancouver Island Symphony, The Okanagon Symphony, The Prince George Symphony and most recently Verdi’s Requiem with The New Westminster Symphony.

Originally from Liverpool England, Todd Jang has performed roles with opera companies across Canada including: Vancouver Opera, Calgary Opera, Opera Saskatchewan and Edmonton Opera. Todd’s passion for music not only encompasses opera and classical genres but spans a broad spectrum of styles including jazz, rock and hip-hop. A versatile performer, Todd sings a Mozart aria with the same commitment and enthusiasm as an Elton John ballad. Todd also holds a Chef Diploma from one of Canada’s top culinary schools and is equally passionate about food as he is about singing.

Limiting oneself to a single genre of music is like eating the same food day in day out, possible but not very interesting. – T.J.

At only 26 years old, Frederik Robert has already sung roles with many companies across Canada including; Edmonton Opera, The Opera Project, Calgary Opera, Opera Nuova, Opera Saskatoon, Prince George Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony and the National Arts Symphony Orchestra. Frederik is versatile in opera, oratorio, recital work, musical theatre and pop. Recent performances include; Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte at the Canadian Vocal Arts Festival in Edmonton in association with The Opera Project, Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon with Opera Nuova, Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff with Opera Nuova, Monostatos/Armed Guard/First Priest in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote with The National Arts Center Orchestra and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
