Bio

As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Rome In A Day, the internationally touring melodic metal band from the DC metro area, couldn’t agree more. The name is a satire, intended to convey the point that in an industry where there is such a focus on instant gratification, great things still take time, patience, dedication and, most of all, hard work.

The transition of Rome In A Day from it's origins to it's aggressive, metal sound today is dramatic. The band originated as a solo project sparked by front man James Stevens. In August of 2005, Stevens began assembling a group to bring his solo compositions to the stage in a full band environment. Through his search Stevens met Adam Lee, the first and last drummer to audition for the new project. It was then that the idea of expanding his solo effort into a full-on rock band became a realization. For over a year Stevens and Lee played local and regional shows often with friends filling in on bass. The name Rome In A Day was christened in April of 2006 followed shortly thereafter by the band’s first recording, a five song EP entitled “Thin Air.”

The band started gaining momentum in December of 2006, when Ali DiPippo came onboard as bass guitarist. With DiPippo, Rome In A Day discovered not only an accomplished bassist and vocalist, but also an exceptional songwriter. DiPippo's progressive rock background added an edgy twist to the band's new sound. The trio continued to perform and write new music over the course of the year and in April of 2007, the final piece of the puzzle was found. Bassist Jay Brazao, originally from Boston, met the band at the infamous TT Reynolds in Fairfax, Virginia. With Jay completing the lineup, Ali shifted to her more natural role as lead guitarist, and the rest as they say, is history.

With the line-up completed, Rome In A Day performed at several of the region's top venues, such as the 930 Club (Washington DC), The State Theatre (Falls Church, VA), Ram's Head Live! (Baltimore, MD), Grape Street Pub (Philadelphia, PA), Arlene's Grocery (New York, NY), and Harper's Ferry (Boston, MA). Recent performance highlights include "Shamrockfest" (DC's largest outdoor music festival held at RFK Stadium), Dewey Beach Music Conference, Steamtown Original Music Conference, DC101's Last Band Standing Competition, a Washington National's MLB Game, and an Armed Forces Entertainment New Years tour to Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean. They also released a full-length album 'From HereAfter' which is currently available on iTunes and Rhapsody.

In May of 2010, Rome In A Day decided to undergo another large transformation, which included the amicable departure of drummer Adam Lee and the addition of two new members: Guitarist Tom Benca (who has since been replaced by Bryan Corley) and drummer Kris Combs. The music also shifted from melodic hard rock to metal, including more intricate guitar styling, double bass inspired drums, implementation of various odd time signatures and increased vocal aggression.

In May of 2011, they released their EP entitled "RISE" that displays the band's new and powerful sound. Check the website for links to purchase a physical copy of the new EP or to download from iTunes.
