Bio

ROMP – Old F*#ks, New Rock! ROMP is a San Francisco based hard rock/ indie/noise-pop band. Formed in January of 2002 with Rich DeWilde and Alan Katzman on guitars and vocals, Bill Cooper on bass and vocals, and Rom Kuras on drums, members of ROMP have all crashed the local circuit many times before. In past bands Life with Bunny, the Merciful, and Porcelain, members have headlined the Bottom of the Hill, the Paradise, Trocadero, etc., gigged at Slim’s and the Fillmore, and played Noise-Pop and a NARAS/ Grammy showcase.

ROMP is a little - who are we kidding – a helluva lot older than your typical modern rock band. Whilst most players their age have moved on to do cover bands or blues bands, these guys are still refining, defining, and exploring their own voices. Thick, molten, driven guitars are met with plaintive, sweet vocal harmonies or punk angst. It's big and beautiful but it ain't necessarily pretty.

The end product of ROMP is a rich, trashy noise-pop garage rock sound that has been compared most often to Television but also Mission of Burma, Social Distortion, P.I.L., and Iggy Pop.

ROMP has played at the Red Devil Lounge, Tongue and Groove, Thee Parkside, the Stork Club and more. ROMP’s powerful live performance quickly garnered them weekend slots at Kimo’s, the Voodoo Lounge, and Tongue and Groove.

After a brief hiatus, ROMP has now released a 3-song follow-up to their initial cd. It's a sound now much more cohesive, powerful, and defined yet retaining rawness. ROMP looks forward to, and already is, expanding their sound and soundscapes as they progress as a band. The sound is jelling but every new song is merely the beginning. In the final equation though, simply put, ROMP ROCKS.
