"RONDALE AND THE KIT KATZ"

"This promises to be a good weekend for original music: Distinctive Gulf Coast group Rondale and the Kit Katz are releasing a new album with a Saturday show at Pirates Cove in Josephine. "Creepin' In" from Bayou La Batre native Rondale Overstreet and company, is something altogether different. The songs can be heard at www.rondaleandthekitkatz.com; to my ears, they suggest a love of harmony-rich '60s pop folk, mixed with later R&B and soul influences. Fun stuff? You bet - which is probably why the group will be opening for the B-52's next month at the Mobile Saenger Theatre. An appearance at Pirates Cove should be a fine tune-up for the occasion, both for the band and its fans. The music starts about 8 pm. For more on the venue, including directions for reaching Pirates Cove by land and and by water, visit www.piratescoveriffraff.com. "

Bio

Born on the bayou, Rondale was raised in the backwater town of Bayou La Batre , Alabama. A descendent of rich musical talent, she started playing the guitar and singing as a child in church. As a young musician she played at Nashville's Blue Bird Cafe, a popular club for up and coming musicians and songwriters. In her early twenties Rondale, and her sister Dorothy, the owner and publisher of Gumbo Woman Music, played weekends in many local establishments. Dorothy not only sings with the band, but is also a songwriter. She has written on several songs with Rondale and also with Shelby Lynn and Bill Bottrell on the album "I am Shelby Lynn". The band Rondale and the Kit Katz grew out of the sister's travels and they frequently play the Gulf Coast scene.

An example of Rondale’s talent is “Racing”, a song she wrote and Jay Joyce of Nashville , TN , produced for the movie Alabama Moon. Rondale's non-traditional style with a touch of rock comes alive in her first CD. Paying close attention to detail, she delves in emotional substance with compelling verse and chorus. Rondale and the Kit Katz entertain fun and energetic crowds, “we give them our all”.
