"Mojo Rising"

Craggy but literary country blues like Jerry Lee Lewis if he were a beat poet or Townes Van Zandt with a Ph.D. - MOJO

"3RD Coast Music Review"

Ronny Elliott should be among the first to be inducted into an Americana Hall Of Fame. - John Conquest

"Time Out London"

A man with a voice like oil and sand and gold and mud. He's in his late fifties now and just gets better by the year. His music aches, yearns, rolls and burns. On stage, meanwhile, the ol' velvet rambler could hold you in thrall just spinning tales. - British Magazine

"Dirty Linen Review"

Elliott is one of the great artists to be found in the margins of the alt-country scene. - Dirty Linen

"German Review"

He's made another masterpiece record. - Rolling Stone

"Fresh Air, NPR Review, Poisonville"

This is the kind of record that defines an entire career. - Fresh Air

"EW Recommends 05/01"

A voice like Johnny Cash without gravitas and songs like John Prine without whimsy. A - Entertainment Weekly

"Ronny Elliott- Tampa Flash"

Half the writers in Nashville would sell their mother's soul for even one of the songs that Elliott seems to toss around like peanut shells. - Billings Gazette

"Jalopypaint by Ronny Elliott"

Here's another album by one of the free world's most unjustly overlooked songwriters. As usual, this Tampa, Florida roots-rocker fills the disc with wonderful story songs dealing with his heroes, a few villains and objects of his lust.

If you've never had the pleasure of hearing Ronny Elliott, this album is a good one to start with. But like the opium he sings about in "Brothels In China,"it is addictive. - Santa Fe New Mexican

Bio

Ronny Elliott was born in 1947. He insists that rock'n'roll was, too. After forty five years and no gold watch he has stories he's tired of telling. Holding Jimi's Marshall cabinets after opening for him. Elvis offering karate lessons. Touring with Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. He's played bills with Van Morrison, Patti Smith, Wilco, Pete Seeger, the Allman Brothers and too many more to remember or mention. He's as much at home at Lincoln Center in Manhattan for the Roots Of American Music Series as he is on the tiny stage at the Cactus Cafe in Austin for South By Southwest or the Belladrum Festival in Scotland or a dingy little dive bar in Tampa.
