"Denver's Newest Roommates"

Yesterday, Denver's punk rock scene was raging down at the Marquis Theater, and you better believe KRCX was there to headbang along with the best of them. The headliners Weatherbox, a band from San Diego, California, did not fail to amp up the crowd with their thrashing guitar skills, and not to mention enough drums to make your insides rattle. Their touring partners Dikembe, a rock band from Florida were equally as smashing, and gave their performance a unique edge by sharing how their music was shaped by their experience teaching. But the real eye-catcher of the evening was Colorado's very own Roommates, a band comprised of four young rockers who have just begun to embark on a new and promising career of delivering you rock music like you've never heard it before. The band describes their sound as a cross between Angels and Airwaves and My Bloody Valentine, a potent mix that allows listeners to embrace and remember their teen angst in the very best way possible. Although the band is still maturing, (they suffered a few technical mishaps during their performance) there can be no doubt that as these young musicians grow and become more seasoned performers, they will be a force to be reckoned with. - KRCX

Bio

Based out of Aurora, Colorado, Roommates was formed in 2012 as a project strongly influenced on the angst and emotions of such bands as The Dangerous Summer and Angels and Airwaves. New influences and experimentation slowly shifted the band into the likes of shoe-gaze, noise rock, post rock, and alternative. Writing, recording, and many shows played throughout 2014 lead up to two single releases, both of which the band recorded and produced themselves using equipment at University of Colorado Denver.

After a brief hiatus from 2015 to 2016, as well as the introduction of two new members, the influences of Roommates continue to expand. The band has come together stronger and more ambitious than ever to bring the loud and exciting live shows like the Denver local scene is missing. New music and their debut album will be arriving throughout 2016.
