After taking top honors in Good Times Magazines LONG ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL, Rooster has been hard at work writing, performing, and continuing to play their original style of home brewed hard hitting bluesy Americana rock that has gotten the recognition of industry and fans alike. The New York based quintet blends memorable hooks, gritty guitar, and edgy piano with vocals that dig and soar throughout each song.
Kohouts voice powers through each number with a take no prisoners attitude that is worthy of the bands reputation. Vassas pounding bass and McClains tireless drumming blend perfectly to support each tune. Zenkus barrelhouse piano, screaming B-3 organ and crisp backing vocals weave in and out as Kohout brings each song to a new level. Throw in Ronnie Tarinas fiery guitar solos and fresh bluesy licks, and you have a combination sure to satisfy any fan of new or classic rock alike.
To see Rooster live is to understand what there music is all about. From the opening chords to rockers like Sweet Elaine and Red Man, to the wistful and melodic meanderings of should-be radio hits like How Ya Been, the audience is treated to a rare breed of music that blends the energy and style of modern bands like The Black Crows with the blues sensibilities of classic rockers such as the Stones and Faces. Not that Rooster needs to be categorized or compared; their songs come alive and speak for themselves when performed at venues such as Kennys Castaways, one of their regular stops when playing in NYC.
