Bio
Created in the end of the nineties, Roque Malasartes recorded a demo CD, named “PIRATA” (“PIRATE”), with 7 traditional songs from the states of Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, São Paulo,
Santa Catarina, Bahia and Minas Gerais. The following CD, recorded with the first line-up, would be titled “Folquelétrico” (“Electricfolk”), could not be launched because of departing of some members.
Its second CD, named “A Memória das Naus” (“Memory of the Ships”), was released by the label Via Interior Records (VIR0901), specialized in world music, combining traditional songs with compositions written by band members.
Now the group is finishing the arrangements and starting the recording of its next CD “Outro Luar” (“Another Moonlight”), that, beyond folksongs and their own songs, brings compositions from Brazilian classic and popular writers, like Waldemar Henrique and João do Valle.
Roque Malasartes line-up is Isa Matos (vocals), Paulo Sérgio (acoustic and electric guitars), Marcus Antonio Moura (flutes, keyboards and accordion), Raul Branco (electric bass) and Wladimir Duarte (drums).
