BandPopAdult Contemporary

Renowned for his positive energy and infectious enthusiasm. Rory's solo acoustic shows are a simultaneously mystical and energising experience. Described as "Power Acoustic" by the Irish Independent.

Biography

An attitude of exploration, demonstrated by a childhood spent "digging up stuff in the backyard", and early years playing in garage punk bands around Sydney Australia, led to a move to Ireland where songs became the obsession. After writing and developing his craft amongst the heavily populated singer-songwriter scene in Dublin, Rory started quietly slipping off to mainland Europe, touring solo acoustic, refining and expanding his repertoire with literally hundreds of gigs and continues to tour regularly both in Australia and Ireland.

Described by one journalist as "a strength that will move and inspire you with jolts of positive energy", 1998 saw the UK-only release of his debut album and first single 'NOWHERE SOMEWHERE ANYWHERE', recorded in Dublin.

Rory's second album, 'BLOOD, BONES & SOUL', was also recorded in Dublin, with Bill Shanley and Ciaran Byrnes sharing production duties at 'The Cauldron Studios'. An uplifting and energised set of songs featuring the metaphysical imagery of 'SHED MY SKIN' and the invigorating 'RISE ABOVE'. The Irish Times observed that his “relentlessly upbeat folk-rock courses with positive thinking and surges with vigorous musicality....Faithfield is invigorating and inspiring....”

In 2007, Rory Faithfield returns to the Cauldron Studios for the recording of his third album 'CIRCLE DANCE'. A fundamentally solo acoustic project that conveys the true energy of his live shows. The intriguing 'CLONARD' opens the album, which, as explained on Rory's My Space Blog, was a gift delivered fully formed in a dream where the Irish folk legend, Christy Moore, was witnessed entertaining a sing-along crowd in a backstreet pub. The mystery and profound intent of these songs unfolds as the album progresses and will prove to be Rory's most successful project to date.

Lyrics

Nowhere Somewhere Anywhere

Written By: Rory Faithfield

They came with burdens untold
but with a fire down deep in the soul
where the wanderlust calls like a song
as they search for a place, a place to belong

They ride on the road to nowhere
looking for some kind of somewhere.
By now that could be anywhere

I hope you are listening my friend
'cause new beginnings always start with an end
and for all that is yet to be
I will need you like you will need me

They ride on the road to nowhere....

The more that I listen to this wind in my soul
the more it carries me away
and those that I meet on this road we are on
I will listen to what they say

They ride....

And that one precious thing that they seek
It goes beyond words they can speak
Their pride and intention is known
The light shall be seen, the chains will be thrown

They ride on the road to nowhere
looking for some kind of somewhere.
By now that could be anywhere,
Anywhere they can find

Follow The River

Written By: Rory Faithfield

She follows the river down to the sea
Follows the stars and all they foresee
To a place marked away from here
She's lifted the curse, broken the spell
Dragged her nets from this empty well
She can hear the sounds as the ocean draws near
Waves on a beach, birds in the sky
Lost laughter passing her by
Awoken from a dream, she was holding the line
As the memory fades reaching out for a clue
Between all we say and the path we pursue
The details are beyond recall at this time
She follows the river down to the sea

She follows the river down to the sea
Through this crack in her world and its intricacy
With fragmentary traces of what may still yet be
Beyond the cruel, calm grip of despair
To summer breeze pirouettes in the air
By the banks of the river, outer edge of memory
It glitters like gold as it flashes between
The rocks and the reeds as they dance in the stream
Open arms, inviting smile, saving grace
Reaching out for her as she reaches in
Where this world ends and another begins
With the power to dissolve the lines on her face
She follows the river down to the sea

She follows the river down to the sea
Past the burning bridge of this fait accompli
Retracing steps of a dance carved through the stone
One foot in the swell, another on the quay
White water rhythm, mainland refugee
High as a kite, soul dry as a bone
Diving deep into the bracing bliss
Sealed and delivered with a watery kiss
There's a solitary boat tied to the shore
And transitory words upon
The final breath of a never ending song
Rose from a whisper to a roar
She follows the river down to the sea

Sooner Or Later

Written By: Rory Faithfield

Rivers and oceans lurk beneath your skin
Try to hold your breath you just can't keep it in
As the wind must blow blood must circulate
And as these wheels must turn you shall meet your fate

Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home

The dam has broken you're floating in the flood
Leagues above that old life knee deep in the mud
You can hear it call you now that lost voice in the crowd
It weaves it's way around you like an illuminated shroud

Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home
All your friends, they will say how much you've grown
Sooner or later you'll find your way home

The time is nigh so cease and desist
Hold the door for all that you resist
Greet your foe like a long lost friend
Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home

Open your eyes now and take another breath
As you loose yourself from the limp and bloodied arms of death
You're still the new beginning and the ending of it all
The light reflected in the stars and the writing on the wall

Beginning, middle or end

Sooner or later you're going to find what you've always known
Sooner or later you'll find your way home
All your friends, they will say how much you've grown
Sooner or later you'll find your way home
Sooner or later you're going to find your way home

Rivers and oceans lurk beneath your skin
Try to hold your breath you just can't keep it in
