Friday night a friend of mine invited me to cultural Mecca in LA to go watch her favorite band perform at the M Bar in Hollywood. It was a pleasure meeting Rory Seldon and watching this multi faceted musician gracefully stroke the ivories of his keyboard as he accompanied his beautifully talented back up singers in between masterfully crafted percussion solos. The guitarist for the band was definitely showcasing his ability by dominating that Old School R&B sound with his guitar. The drummer was very low key while he held everything together as he subtly added well placed splashes of rhythm to the evening. The percussion section was working hard sweating it out slapping congas, bongos, tambourines and even skillfully adding chime to the scenario. The performance was definitely short lived as I was only able to enjoy the show for an hour before it ended. RORY SELDON WITH INNERSESSION is a Los Angeles, California based Soul, Funk, R&B band. We always captivate the crowd and have them dancing on their feet once our show starts. Our band consists of seven very talented and professional musicians that truly take their craft to the next level. Not only do we feature quality vocals, but exceptional harmonies that keep the audience flowing with the music.
Our sets consist of songs by music’s greats such as Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, War, Santana, Chaka Khan and Marvin Gaye; to name a few. Our sets can also be diverse to include Jazz and Blues songs from artists such as Ray Charles, Herbie Hancock, BB King and Eric Clapton. Of course, we include in our set original songs by Rory Seldon from his commercially released CD’s when appropriate.
This band is very unique in its sound with a variety of instrumentation including keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, congas & percussion and three vocalists. Rory Seldon, who is on keyboards and vocals, is the founder of this group and has been in the music industry of over 20 years. RORY SELDON WITH INNERSESSION has played at dinner clubs, dance clubs, outdoor festivals, political fundraisers and special events. They were selected recently as one of the few bands to play at the Los Angeles Marathon this past March. They recently had a monthly show at the famous Blue Café in Long Beach for two years and opened for some of their top name entertainers such as Poncho Sanchez and Steve Copeland. Some of the outdoor festivals we performed in recently were the Los Angeles Marathon, the Long Beach Latin-American Festival, the California Music Festival, the Leimert Park Village African Art & Music Festival, the Los Angeles Filipino Festival, the Downtown Riverside Black History Expo and the Moreno Valley Black History Expo.
